They Might Be Giants!!

I've never been to a TMBG show, but this sunday in Portland, OR, they have a kid's show at 4pm, before their normal show at 8pm. It is geared towards kid's, probably based on their album No!. I can't wait! Ds is still a lap baby so he was free, otherwise the tix are 1/2 price for kid's under 12. If you love them, see if they are having a kid's show in your area!

I just saw this and looked up the price--$66 for a family of four!?!? We love TMBG and would go but we just can't afford that!

Yes, we thought the ticket prices were pretty steep ($22.50 for adults) but we used to go to more concerts before ds was born so we thought we would splurge.

The show was only 45 minutes though, so for that price, I think they could have played a little longer. The kids were certainly into it!!! They were all dancing around. It was fun though. If they really wanted to make money, they should have had kid sized t-shirts, everyone seemed to want one!

I'm confused. Were they the 80's band that sang "Istanbul is Constantsitnople (sp?) now it's Istanbul, not Constanstinople" song? And Triangle Man?
I could see them being geared towards kids now, but they were kind of a college band from what I remember. Are they the same people?

Yep, same band, in fact, they played those two songs.

Last year they put out a children's cd called "No!". Not annoying kid music drivel, really good stuff!! They even have it at our library in the kid's music section!

The TMBG version of Istanbul Not Constantinople was our wedding song. We danced to that in front of a bunch of people. No one else joined in, so it was basically me and the new husband putting on a little dance recital.

Particle Man, Particle Man, doin' the things, a particle can, what is he like, it's not important, Particle Man.

And I'd like a prosthetic forehead for my real head! :LOL

Triangle man rules!!!

We'll have to look for "No"!

Amywillo, everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real heads!

That's hilarious that Istanbul Not Constantinople was your wedding song--I'd love to see how you danced to it! I bet everyone was just speechless.

I used to know every single word on that album. My best friend and I would sing it walking home from school every day. I haven't thought about it lately though.... what a good memory!

Oooh, I love TMBG!
Too bad their shows have gotten so steep, though. I saw them a couple of times back in the late '90s and got in for $5 a ticket.

My husband would not dance in public, so we weren't going to have a dance. But he used to do a happy dance in the kitchen that he called the Kitchen Dance. It basically consisted of him stepping one leg out to the side, then the other, and moving his arms open and shut. So I would do it with him. He said that we could do the kitchen dance, so I agreed, but then I was embarrassed just to do that the whole time, so I started spinning around, kicking my legs out and being a total spaz. Everyone seemed to think it was pretty funny.
