Third baby birth stories? - Page 2

My third birth was my first UC...story here. If I had had a mw, I could have had help with the placenta. But there were no midwives there, in 1989, and they would still knock you out at the better of the two hospitals in the area, if you asked.

I'm enjoying all these stories as I'm preparing to have my third soon!

Did everyone's babies get progressively bigger?

Yes mine did!

6/13 (2.1998)
7/7 (9.2004)
7/12 (Friday night!)

I had a water birth at home Friday night and he was my biggest baby. I didn't scream or cry, I birthed mostly alone because it happened so fast. Midwife arrived after I birthed his head. Kids were in bed. Husband was scurrying around the house making preparations and waiting for midwife to arrive.

Mine have been:

9-10 (boy)
9-4 (boy)
10-1 (girl)

I can't wait to see what this baby will weigh! I have been measuring so far ahead this time from my uterus having been stretched so much, baby has plenty of extra room to grow!

Mine didn't get progressively bigger, either.

#1 - 7 lb. 3 oz.
#2 - 9 lb. 13 oz.
#3 - 8 lb.

Contrary to popular assumption, #2, the biggest, was born in a few pushes - so fast the doctor didn't get into the room in time, and a nurse caught him.

Very very different (fast, no hand tucked, unassisted).

Third time's the charm?

I don't know if that's what the question implied, that perhaps the third time around things are more likely to be faster, easier, and better all around. For me I was certainly hopeful after hearing a few friends' stories of their quick 3rd-baby deliveries. But my third came slowly, just as my other two had. I was stronger through the contractions, and more laid back about the birth as it approached, so those aspects improved. But my third birth actually was more difficult than my second - and I was disappointed in my dreams of a 3 hour quick labor.

As for size:
first: 9.7lbs
second: 7.13lbs
third: 7.11lbs

If baby #4 should choose to come my way I am hoping to go into the pregnancy expecting a long labor instead of a short one!
