Hives on legs after bath

We live in the NE and my ds skin is already a tad raw from the flux in weather we've been expeireincing (damned global warming) but I pulled him out of the tub this evening and his legs were all red and hive like. I took him upstairs put on his pajamas, still hives - waiting a few more minutes for the doctor to call me back and yet still more hives.
I gave him a small dose of benydryl and his hives have gone down and he's asleep now.
I guess my question to put out there - have you noticed your child get hives out of nowhere...he's eaten everything before - 10 times over and we can't seem to pinpoint an allergyn from today's meals.
He's 15 months btw.

Food:
Cheerios
Eggs
Milk
Banana
Apples
Pasta
Pilaf
Turkey
Chicken
Carrots
Green Beans

All stuff he's eaten a lot of for the past 6 months. Just really curious is all. I'm deathly allergic to dairy products and break out in hives and require hospitalization if exposed to a good amount of dairy so I know allergy hives when I see them.

DS broke out in hives when he ate strawberries. He ate them twice and whammo!

The two things that stand out to me are the eggs and milk since that is what DS is allergic to. An individual can dev'p an allergy at any time.

BTW, DS has had eggs numerous times as well. I never knew he was allergic until yesterday.

I've noticed for ds that his eczema is more noticeable after bath time.

There are many types of uticaria (hives) and not all of them are food induced. My friend's dd would get them anytime any pressure was applied to her skin, I forget the name for it. It may just be his way of reacting to the dry weather. My kids' eczema shows up this time of year, but thankfully it's still mild.

Have you changed the soap or shampoo? We not only have allergies, but are chemicaly sensitive. I know that my girls, as well as myself, experience hives if we are reacting to a bath product.

generally, a food allergy hive is higher on the body (face, trunk of body, etc.)

It sounds like he reacted to something in the bath. Was it cleaned with any chemicals recently, that perhaps didn't completely rinse off? Bubble bath? My dd is very sensitive to bath products.
