Bergamot Kombucha?

Anyone tried it?It's pretty yummy Especially with brown sugar.

BUT, I only know this because last week I only had 3 organic earl grey tea bags, so mixed my batch with those and 3 non-organic bergamot earl grey bags. And last night? All

My question to the experts:
Will Bergamot kill my SCOBY, or at least prevent it from forming a baby? Will I hurt it? I plan to get more next week of the organic stuff, without bergamot.

I don't know if bergamot will harm the scoby, but I've read that sugars other than plain, white sugar will mess it up. Maybe that's a myth, I haven't tested it (I use organic refined sugar). However, I'm not clear what you mean about Earl Grey tea and bergamot - all Earl Grey tea has bergamot, whether it's organic or not. Earl Grey is black tea flavored with bergamot, it's not Earl Grey if it doesn't have it.

Really?Oh, ok then
Well, my kombucha is pretty good, and has been working just fine. I usually use a white sugar, but did brown these two batches. Good to know, thanks!
