Oh, I sure did! With my first daughter, I was all about getting the epidural specifically because everyone I knew said that didn't feel their child come out during the pushing phase, and the exit is what terrified me. Unfortunately, my epidual didn't take, so I felt everything anyway. I felt like someone set my crotch on fire, and then I tore upwards. At that point I yelled that I wanted a C-section, I was quitting, and my doctor said, "It's a little late for that. No one can get this kid out now except for you."
Talk about stepping off the proverbial cliff.
I am going to give birth to my next one in a birth center, preferably in the tub, no pain meds. I figure what is the point? It didn't help the first time, and now I know that my body is capable of doing what it needs to do to give birth. I am so looking forward to this birth, ring of fire or not!
