He was just diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He is one week old today and was born at twenty seven weeks. The left ventricle is completely missing, but he isn't a good candidate for a transplant (which would be the best option) because of his other health problems. Since his heart keeps stopping, they want to keep him on life support (so his heart is forced to beat) until he's either well enough to undergo the surgery or until his brain ceases to function.
Please keep Simon in your thoughts and really push for his surgery to be performed!
Noel, to his credit, is doing wonderfully. He's gained to two pounds and is 14 inches and a little bit. He's opened his eyes once, and he's on 55% oxygen usually. It went up to 70 yesterday when he was in distress, but he's down to 60 again today. They predict that he will be out of the hospital by his due date (March 16) if not sooner.

I am so sorry for what you're going through.
I'll be keeping your boys in my thoughts.
