I just did THE dumbest thing!!!

so I decided to soak some rice. I wanted to try the whey soaking method for it as I havent done so yet. (I do with oatmeal). so I get out the rice and I rinse it and then add it to the whey/water mixture to soak. I soaked overnight and then put it on the stove to cook it. I had to leave the house so I ask dh to take it off the stove when it's done. this morning I woke up and was trying it find rice in the fridge but all I could find was... wheat! :

I accidentally use my wheat berries and never once did i notice, thru all of those steps until this morning! I must have been really tired!

I've never used wheat berries before, I just bought them to try out a recipe. I don't have the slightest idea how to cook them and make food from it as I havent even read the directions yet!

so is there anything I can do with a bowl of rice-cooked wheat berries??? (I don't really eat much wheat so this is new to me)

Wheat berries can be eaten the same way as rice or barley. I'd google some recipes for seasoning ideas.

They are good as a side dish with apples and cranberries mixed in or as a breakfast with apples and cinnamon (for the kids, not you!) You could even mix the wheat with rice so it's a milder taste, more like what everyone is used to. Also, throw some wheat in soups instead of rice, barley or whatever. It's yummy!

cassarole! Saute little peices of chicken, pork or turkey, add onion, garlic all sorts of veggies ( like celery, carrot, leek) and saute. Mix witht he wheat and put ina cassarole pan. Mix eggs with milk or cream or both add salt and pepper and pur over the wheat mix in the pan. Top with lots of cheese and bake until knive comes out clean and cheese is starting to brown

My mom used to do that with bulgur so I suppose whole wheat would work just as well

oooh all interesting ideas! I wasn't sure how you go about soaking wheat (as I don't eat it myself) I wasn't sure if the method I used was enough to break it down properly.

I love the casserole idea. I don't know if i could do it as I can't eat carbs right now (candida issues) but i crave them like crazy!!! so I would wanna eat it... hmmm.
