Christmas Day babies??

Just wondering if anyone thinks they are ready to go? We should have had a pool going for Christmas and New Year's births . Looks like I won't be winning that one--my sis is in town for the holidays (she's soon to be starting her OB residency) and is antsy for her niece/nephew to make an appearance so she can get a bit of practice in . Try as she might, I think kiddo is going to stay put for a while longer.

I'm pretty sure I'll see the sun set with me still very uncomfortably pregnant. It's really OK- I'm at 36 weeks and know that a little more time in there is probably best.

I'm probably not delivering today. Just as well, what with the holiday and all.

The good news is that last night after I did the moxibustion (yes, I'm doing it every night) the baby was very active so I gently prodded to try to move him. I got his head all the way down against my right hip bone, which is much lower than he's gone previously. The problem seems to be getting his butt up. I can't get a hold of it to push it up. Never fear, I shall try again today. maybe I'll stand on my head first.

I'm still waiting to see. She's dropped, engaged, I've lost the entire plug, had the whole show shebang, made my peace with going UC now, I'm 36 w by LMP and last night I heard a funny noise and today I leak whenever I get up from laying down or whenever I'm walking....Very very slowly, but I leak. So it could be an interesting Christmas night for me or not...we'll see. I'm in no great hurry so if she wants to wait, we'll wait happily.

I checked myself and I'm about 1 cm dilated and my cervix is mush, but I think we'll hold out a little longer. There are some Christmas cookies with my name on them!! Sounds like Kierdan'sMom might be our Christmas birth...: that all goes well for you, mama!

I'm greatful not much is happening today since it's my ds birthday already. We have so much to do with juggling Christmas and his b-day, I don't know what I would do if I went into labor and then had to have both their b-days on Christmas for the rest of their lives!!!!!!: : ok a little over dramatic and what happens happens but I would really like for them to have their own birthdays, KWIM. For those who do have Christmas Babies- it is a lot of fun, just a bit of extra work to make sure they still have their special day separate from traditional festivities. I figure we have a couple more years before anything we do or don't do traumatizes the poor boy for his whole life. (more drama)

Hope you all have a wonderful Holiday!!!!

I was sure I was going to have a Christmas baby! Last night I had some really bad contractions for a few hours I was leaning over the chair, bed and couch breathing throught thme.... then they spaced out and I was able to get some sleep...

Nothing! But they have been going on all day still and now they are getting really strong again... I just wish they would make up their mind! It is driving me nuts!!

Well, I thought I might have been having a Christmas baby... my water broke this morning at about 6:30, but I didn't start feeling anything until around 2... I think my contractions have finally started getting longer and closer together (more like at least 30 seconds and about 5-7 mins apart), and I'm starting to feel them, but its taken this long to get here, I'm not thinking we'll make it before midnight...

Soon though... I'm hoping very soon :

It wasn't me, but I am happy with that =) Sometime this week would be ideal...preferably Friday or Saturday, when we could have an awesome birth experience, but its all up to this girl and I'm semicontent to let her wait it out.

Did anyone else end up with a Xmas baby?

How can you tell if you dialted?

Well, I think that most people check by inserting a clean finger internally to feel the cervix. Non-pregnant, it feels like the tip of your nose (although some places I have read say that in the middle of pregnancy it feels this way, too). For me, the cervix is soft the whole time that I am pregnant.

You hear about being "effaced" which refers to the thinning out of the cervix as Baby's head puts pressure on it. You can feel how "open" or dilated your cervix is if it is low enough to feel with your finger. For some women at this stage, it is usually low enough to feel. I haven't tried yet, because I won't be 37 weeks until next week, and I am too scared of starting something!

If you don't want to check your cervix yourself, you can ask your healthcare provider to do it for you at your next visit.

There is a sticky uptop of the Febuary edd club that gives a great explanation.

I am aiming for new yrs there are prizes with that one. How cool would it be to have partys on new yrs eve?
