need help

i bought an antique cradle(well dh did) for dd for christmas...and it didnt come with a matress...bc of the size i will not be able to purchase one but will need to make it...any ideas on what to use? TIA

Joann's sells foam that you can have cut to size, then you could make a cotton cover (got an old pillowcase?) That might be too thick, though. Or you sew together some rags (check your thrift store) into the right shape, then make a cover. Or how about quilt batting? Several layers would make a nice soft dolly bed.
