Quiet baby?

So I realize that as our little ones get bigger, there is less room to move and their movement decrease. I am starting to become very paraniod about her movements. We've been so busy the last few days and I worry I'm doing too much but sometimes I don't feel like I have the choice. I still have fairly normal movement that's just more like squirming and stretching than anything else. I already went to L&D a few weeks ago cause I was worried and I figure I am concious enough of my body and her to realize if something was wrong. I have a morning appointment with my midwives tomorrow morning. Please tell me I'm not the only one who is dealing with this or similar worries.

I worry about this as well. I am measuring about 4 weeks small and an ultrasound reveled that the baby is indeed measuring very small. I go in every week for NST and fluid checks, so I am obsessed with the babies movement. If he goes more than a a little while I stop and drink some OJ and start counting. So far so good, but yes I am paranoid about it.

Kate, I'm so glad you posted this question. I was up in the middle of the night last night terrified that the baby wasn't moving enough over the past couple of days. I got up and drank some orange juice, did some pelvic rocks, and woke DH up to talk about my fears. I was having vivid images of the baby being wrapped up in the cord.

After sufficiently freaking myself out, I really took it easy today. My house is wrecked, but I've gotten to take a couple of naps while DH played Play-Doh with DS. I also wrote down when I noticed movement so I would have some visual reassurance for myself that everything is okay. Baby seems to be back to normal with his movements. I think our babies are just running out of room, and many of us have been doing too much over the last week or so with travel and getting everything ready for the holidays.

Try to get some rest and try not to stress yourself out too much - I will be doing the same.

I've been feeling the same way on and off for the past few days. Actually, right around the time I hit 36 wks it seemed like her movements dropped off.

I do think part of it is the space issue & being busy of course. I've been noticing that she's still moving, but they are MUCH more subtle movements a lot of the time. Almost like the little flickers I felt at the start you know?

If I go too long without noticing anything I also stop, drink some juice, and maybe gently poke at my tummy a bit to rouse her. I wouldn't hestitate to call the midwife if I was really concerned either though.

I went in twice during the last 3 wks of my pregnancy with DD1 to be checked. Yeah, I felt kind of like a dork for being such a worry-wart. But at the same time I just remind myself how much WORSE I'd feel if I disregarded my instincts and something really was wrong!

Yep, I definitely noticed a significant drop off in movement... and she seemed to be less responsive to poking as well... I WILL say that since my water has broken, she's been moving ALOT more... more room maybe?

Whew! I'm so glad to read this! I was noticing yesterday that the baby wasn't moving as much. Still moving & having hiccups and shifting around a bit, the movements were just smaller. She was still sometimes moving when I'd gently rub a body part sticking out, but not as quickly as she was before.
She still had an active time in the middle of the night, so I really feel like everything's OK.

Congrats on your water breaking. Not long now!

Yep, movements are down here, too. Yesterday I actually stopped, drank some juice and just counted movements for a while. If I remember right from ds (I ended up doing the same thing in the last few weeks, esp. week 40 and 41), as long as there are 10 movements an hour, all is good. And really, usually if I drink juice and sit still for 10 min. I feel 7 or 8 movements and stop worrying.

Seirously, though, this baby is SO big now that I don't think I could handle any big movements -- it would be WAY too painful.

Some days my baby is busy and other days, very quiet. I like to think that during the quiet times he/she is just being contemplative and thinking about the upcoming birth.
