For those of us "overdue"....

(Me: 41wks 3 days today)...

So at the family get together today, I found out that my SIL went overdue with her middle baby... 10 days! That's where I am now! She said 10 days was the max her OB would allow, at which point he induced.

At which point she was strapped to a bed, pumped full of drugs, and wound up with a "failure to progress" c-section.

Afterwards, her doctor told her that her baby was TOO BIG for her to have birthed naturally anyways, since she went so overdue and her baby was a whopping...

EIGHT POUNDS 11 OUNCES!!!!!

:

She still doesn't believe me that eight pounds is pretty average for a full-term baby...

I'm posting this as encouragement for us mamas who feel like we are waiting and waiting, I know I do... it's so hard to be patient!!!!! And also sitting here feeling like a ticking time bomb is a little wierd! And also having to go for my second NST tomorrow is going to suuuuuuuuuuuuuck! But hearing this today reminded me why I'm ok with waiting.

(I mean no slight or offense of any kind whatsoever against anyone actually needing a c-section by this post, of course!!!)

Happy holidays ladies, hang in there! (Or, better yet... have a baby!!! )

41 weeks 4 days here. I am supposed to go for an NST tomorrow, too. I am thinking about being bad and waiting until Wednesday when my midwife is back in town. I don't think they will allow me to go past this Friday. Dh is ready for me to be induced now. No Thank you!! I am so dreading the possiblilty of being induced. I was induced with ds1 and it was NO fun. Hopefully if it does come to that though my midwife will be much more flexible about not making me stay in the bed the whole time.

Ugh, I was just coming here to vent about being so sick of being pregnant!!! I've HAD it; I hope baby comes SOON!!!! You ladies are further overdue than I am (41w2d today), so I shouldn't complain. But I'd LOVE to be able to lay down & sleep in a bed, and have my ankles return to their normal size (they are about double their size).

I'm worried that I'll go too far overdue, and our MW won't be able to assist us at home. I did get a copy of our mid-term U/S that puts my EDD 5 days later than it is (which of course my OB never mentioned), so that buys me some more time (until Jan. 4th).

C'MON BABY!!! Mama (& everyone else) is VERY EXCITED to meet you!!!!

Yep, getting a little sick of this But I am SO fortunate - this is my first time with a MW and it's great. I have just the one u/s this week, to satisfy the OB we have to consult with on Friday (if I'm still pg), and I can deliver at home until I'm 43 weeks. That's a pretty nice setup, IMO. Now, between 42 and 43 weeks, I'll probably have another u/s or NST, but with my family doctor I would have ALREADY had several tests and SERIOUS induction pressure. As it is, just waiting it out for now!

Oficially overdue today. I am 40 weeks 1 day. I have a feeling he's coming soon, so not too anxious.

Still here. :

I'm 41 + 4 today. I have a midwife appt. at 10am tomorrow. And as a backup precaution, made an OB appt. for Friday at 10am.

I don't want the OB appointment, but - figured it was safer to make it and not use it than just have to randomly wander in off the street seeing as how I don't officially have an OB, just whoever my insurance throws at me. I'm pretty darn sure that whatever OB I see through my insurance will be 100% ready to sign me in for a c-section then and there.

I'm nervous/unsure/worried about what may be said at my midwife appointment tomorrow. Not sure how much longer she'll let me go, or how much longer is safe since baby is still pretty obviously breech.

Really just very down and depressed at this point.

Heather.

Will your mw deliver a breech baby?

I'm sending you baby turning and labor vibes.

paradoxia13~~ do you know anyone familiar with the rebozo??? I ask because i am a rebozo using birth doula and it can actually help turn a breech baby safely...... ask your midwife or any doula friends if they a familiar with the rebozo techniques........
TURN BABY TURN!!!!!!!!!

I went 43 weeks with #1 and she was 9lbs........ so hopefully that can add a little encouragement to you mammas........

Natural labor vibes to you all

I'm pulling out the big guns today.

Had the mw come by and do and stretch and sweep - stretched me to 2 cm from 1, and said she could do a 'good' sweep, whatever that means

I can sure tell that happened - I'm just so crampy now. Plus, she gave me an herbal tincture to take hourly this afternoon to kick things into gear.

I was awake half the night with contractions and a child with possible chicken pox...so this morning I woke up and said to myself - let's get this going!

Heather, - that is a tough situation. I'd try the rebozo, the chiro, anything at this point, unless your mw can deliver a breech, in which case I'd want to get that labor going! I hope, hope, hope things work out well for you!

Yeah, my midwife will deliver breech. That's not so much the problem, the problem is, if I time out of there, and have to go to my insurance provider - they won't. I feel like I'm on the clock, and it's soooo not a good feeling.

I am waiting too, not as long as some mamas though just two days "overdue". I had some more mucus this morning and and hoping that is a good sign for something soon. I had DH try and check me last night, not that he knows what he is doing, but I think he was touching my cervix from the way it felt to me and he said really mushy so here's hoping. It was pretty high though, I think.

I don't know of anyone one familiar with the rebozo, in fact, I've just barely heard about it myself, don't quite understand? I have tried chiropractic, so far no luck. My midwife will deliver breech, but I'm definitely on a timeline of how much longer I have at her center. I'll find out the details at my appointment tomorrow.

I don't know of anyone who does the rebozo, have been doing chiro - no luck though My midwife WILL deliver breech - but at my last appointment didn't want to do anything to get the labor going as far as sweeping or breaking my water. We'll see where we stand tomorrow.

All this extra monitoring is making me SO TENSE. Although I'm glad of it on the one hand, on the other it's just... making me very very tense. Second NST today and she did check my cervix... 80% effaced but no dilation at all. My MW won't boot me to an OB if I go over 42 weeks but given that they say risks tend to go up after that point, I really really want to go before then. Plus, before my NEXT NST and biophysical profile on Thursday!!!! (Baby will *not* stay still for the NST machine. She just won't.)

My MW says the longest she had a client go was 42 wks 3 days...

Well I made it through Christmas. I was really wanting to be able to eat Christmas dinner and wanted to be able to give ds my full attention on Christmas morning. Now I am ready for the baby to be here. The only thing that would make things rough is dh is back on crutches due to his gout. He has been so careful especially knowing that I could go into labor at anytime. We are having a homebirth so it's not like we would have to drive to the hospital or anything it's just that dh wouldn't be able to help out as much as he did for ds birth. Please send my dh healing vibes. He is really miserable right now. I think that it is why I am ok with being "overdue". I had a midwife appt. last Thursday and my midwife said it didn't look like I would be going into labor anytime soon. She said I still had a lot of fluid and my belly didn't instantly contract when she was checking the babes position. I went 10 days overdue with ds and she thinks I could go that far again! So I guess I will just try and wait as patiently as possible.

to the mamas talking about them not letting you, etc.
its YOUR body, and YOUR baby. they cant make you do anything. and they arent letting you or NOT letting you do anything. its your birth.
there are different natural induction techniques, you do NOT have to go to the hospital and be hooked up to pitocin and strapped down. its YOUR body, YOUR baby. not theirs. dont let "them" call the shots.

I too am past my due date, but only by three days today. I am so grateful to have a midwife! I know that any other practitioner would be pressuring me to induce. I go in on Thursday for monitoring. I am really hoping that baby looks good and we can continue to wait it out until until the baby has decided on the day that he/she would like for a birth day. I will be thinking lots of labor inducing thoughts for the rest of you ladies who are waiting for your little ones.

I agree... unfortunately some OBs and midwives will refuse to care for a patient who won't adhere to their rules, so some women may not have as many options as others. I'm very lucky in that my midwife does not have a "cut off" point like so many seem to. But if I did, I'd really be freaking out, as UC is absolutely not an option for me. It's not the right choice for everyone.
