Strange and painful baby movements

When my baby goes through her really active movement phases, which are mostly at night, it sometimes feels as though she is grabbing something near my bladder and squeezing with all of her might or digging her fingernails deeply into something. I'll get flashes of intense pain all of a sudden and then they end almost as quickly. It only happens when she is moving around a lot so I know it must be something she's doing. I would like to know what it is. For the past few months, she's been great at bladder punches but this new activity of hers is different. She's such an active little bugger and despite me being at 36 weeks, she isn't moving any less. It seems like the cramped space is upsetting her because she will stretch her body into any space and move as far as she can. :

Sounds like you have a feisty one on the way! My baby has gotten very low and when she moves certian ways, I feel pain in my lower abdomen. Just remember, in a few weeks, they will be here! Hang in there.

Don't know what she's up to, but probably somehow trying to stretch / kick / grip at something. At this point ds used to PUSH his feet into my ribs to try to stretch out more, and it was really painful. But he ended up having really strong legs really early becuase of it -- so maybe your babe will be born with a killer grip.

We are getting painful around here, too. Babe is way low, head is mostly engaged, and his / her elbows jab at ds when he leans against my belly -- ouch.

Ouch, I hear ya. Tonight baby was being really active, more active than has been normal lately, and it felt like s/he was punching my cervix. My bladder was being pinched too. Holy s@#$ that hurt! I was in serious pain until baby finally calmed down.

I can feel your pain, literally! Mine likes to push off of my ribs, stretch out full length (or so it seems!) and head butt my bladder and cervix. All of this is one long movement so it's not over in a flash, but it lasts and lasts and it's like a knife stabbing me. I have also been getting severe pain in the upper right hand quadrant of my belly, but it's on the surface. It's like it was when my DD used to kick me so hard I would bruise, but this one never kicks like that. This one is a stretcher and a turner, but not a kicker. Hmmm.....

Sometimes it feels like my baby is trying to stretch out of me, through my belly. I feel bad for the little one as it must be pretty claustrophobic in there by now, but ouch! it can be really uncomfortable.

I've been feeling the baby really low, really painful... Like he is screwing his little head around against me. I can't really explain it except to say it hurts! My DD had this little foot she would jam against my upper right ribs, this baby hasn't done much of that but this low head thing HURTS!
