freezing clam chowder?

I have just been having a love affair with clam chowder lately. I have always liked it but now that I make it myself, from scratch with raw milk and cream, there is no stopping me. But I would love to make a huge batch and freeze it. Is that possible? or would the milk/cream go all weird? I could just leave the potato out and add that after I defrost it...

Anyone have experience with this? ( or other milk based soups?)

I freeze wild rice soup (cream base) and chicken corn chowder (also cream base) all the time and it does well. It sometimes gets a little thick and I add some cream when I am reheating. I would leave out the potatoes.

Yum I love clam chowder!

Thanks...I am going to try it next time. I *thought* I made easily enough for 2-3 dinners, but after last night there was just enough left for lunch for every one
