Mamas! We finally got our own DDC!!! I just noticed it now; wonder how long it's been up--probably not too long. Let's check in here, even those of us who checked in in the main DDC forum. It'll be good to keep info all in one place, especially for those just joining us (and hopefully there will be many!)

Just provide whatever information you'd like!

Name: Melissa
Age: 26
Previous Pregnancies: 2--resulting in 2 DDs, ages 5 and almost 3
Due Date: September 1
Birth Plans: Planning a first HB, second unmedicated with a MW.
Location: Ontario, Canada (gotta love OHIP funded midwifery care)
Current Symptoms: Tiredness, cruelly coupled with sporadic insomnia (it's 2AM here), nausea, irritability, bloating, feeling very hungry.

I'm a social work and law student, and both of my previous kids were born while I was studying. I plan to continue my studies part-time when this babe comes. We are not planning to find out the sex of the baby, as I found it very exciting last time to not find out until DP told me after delivery.

I am very excited to get to know you all over the next 8 months.

Hi, I'm Renée. I am due Sept 3. So far I am a little urpy, crampy, super tired and right now, feeling a little nervous.... Has anyone else seen the faintest of lines on the pg test? I've taken 3. They all have very faint lines, but they are there....What gives?

We are not finding out the sex of the baby. We hope to have a HBAC this time around. We have the most wonderful dd who will be a great big sister!

Nice to meet you all!

Renee, check out my "2 lines" .

http://jemm.dyndns.org/whatdoyousee/

There really were 2 lines.
I took a digital after that that was -, but wasn't an early detector like this one. I ended up feeling anxious until 3 days later when I retested with a digital and got my +. In the meantime, I did a total of 11 POAS tests and they never got much darker than the one in the link.

Here's a repeat of my intro:

Name: Becky
Age: 31 (32 next month)
Location: Just north of NYC
Due Date: around September 2, 2007
Previous Pregnancies: 1, ended in miscarriage in October 2006 at around 5 weeks.

Other: It took a lot for me to feel ready to start a family. I've always wanted kids, but emotionally the thought of being a mom was totally overwhelming and scary to me. My husband, however, was more than ready for kids when we got married in August 2005. In May 2006 I went off the pill and started charting, just to see what my cycles looked like. Found out I had a short LP so I started taking Vitex, which worked like a charm to not only lengthen my LP but also to move up my ovulation date. We decided to start trying in September and got pregnant immediately and I was happy but terrified. I started miscarrying only 5 days after getting my BFP. My cycle went right back to normal after that ended. With this cycle, I felt such happiness and peace right after we conceived, I just knew that I'd be pregnant and that it would stick (I hope I'm right about that!!).

Symptoms so far: Extreme thirst even before I got my BFP (that was my biggest symptom last time I was pregnant), which has partially subsided, getting tired early and feeling like my heart is beating faster -- I read in my Mayo Clinic book last night that this is common and comes from the increased blood volume. Interesting!

Welcome, Heidi! I love the Big Brother t-shirt idea. Some friends of ours did the same thing. We were thinking of getting a shirt like that for our cat, since we think of him as our child but then I'm worried people will just think we're getting another cat!

Sabo!! Did I know you were pregnant? Anyway, congrats! I'm excited to see you here. Thanks for reminding me about that book -- I've been meaning to get it for my husband, but couldn't remember the name.

Welcome, Renee! I think some mild cramping in early pregnancy is normal. Also, my first two pregnancy tests at 12 and 13DPO were very faint.

Arelyn, nice to have you here. I'm also glad to hear that this pregnancy feels different for you -- it also feels different for me and that gives me hope that it will continue normally.

Welcome Andrea -- sorry you're having such severe symptoms already!

Name: Heidi
Age: 30
Previous Pregnancies: 1 - DS is 16.5 mo
Due Date: September 2(ish)
Birth Plans: Planning a HB again (first HB was scrapped due to pre-e)
Location: Houston, TX
Current Symptoms: exhausted but can't sleep (argh!), some very slight nausea, hungry all the time but nothing looks appetizing, nipples are getting pretty tender and nursing is quite a chore already... my first real "symptom" was my totally irrational and b!tchy attitude last week. I even snapped at DS! Thankfully that has subsided and I'm actually feeling pretty good.

I want to thank everyone in the other thread who reassured me that twins are a blessing. I'm actually pretty excited to think of the possibility, but right now I'm just so overwhelmed at the prospect of just ONE more baby that TWO is completely flabbergasting!

We told my parents last night. It was so much fun! I made DS a t-shirt that says "I'm the BIG Brother!" When we got there my dad wasn't home yet, so DS kept his sweater on. After dad got home, I took off DS's sweater and told him to "go show mimi (my mom) your new shirt." She bent down to look at his shirt and I could see this puzzled look cross her face, and then she literally started screaming and jumping up and down. She was SOOO excited. DS got a little freaked out - like he couldn't understand why his t-shirt was so upsetting to his mimi LOL. My dad took a moment to catch on but then there were hugs all around. My sister (the one who is currently expecting twins) showed up a little while later and her 3yo DD was so excited about my "twins." I had to explain to her that it might be just one baby - she seems to think all babies are twins now.

OMG, Melissa. That is hysterical! Mine were only slightly darker. I found out that my last test was less sensitive than the first two I took! Doh! I am fighting the urge to take another. My dear best friend told me this: Your period is late (it's never late), you are feeling symptoms already, Dd said that your "muckie is yucky" and you saw lines THREE times (albeit faint), YOU'RE PREGNANT! <<yell>>

Oh, Becky, thanks for the tidbit on rapid heart rate. Mine was rapid as well, although I am not sure if it's due to the holiday caffeine/sugar withdrawl or anxiety over NOT SEEING DARK LINES!!!!!

Congrats all the way around!

Well, I'm officially in the August DDC, but I figured that I'd post a bit here as well, since I'm expecting to be late.

My name is Mindi, I'm 35 (advanced maternal age... HA!), and I'm expecting my second child sometime end of August or Early September.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hello!
I think I belong here - I ovulated about December 11, so I think I'd be due in September.
So, I'm Jeanine. This is my 4th pregnancy. I have 2 dc's and I had a miscarriage in August, so I'm really nervous (you can see I haven't changed my siggie yet.) I have low progesterone, so I'm taking progesterone suppositories 2x a day, yuck! I'm 35, so I'm sure I'll be "advanced maternal age".
Ds is 5 1/2, and dd will be 2 in April.
I've been ever so slightly nauseous. Dd had a stomach bug a week ago, so I figured I was getting it, too, but then I took a test and saw two lines!!!!!!!
I'm going to have a hospital birth - we live in the boonies and there is one midwife to choose from, and if there's a problem you go to a rural hospital that is not equipped to handle a problem. If we lived in a city I would love to have a homebirth, but I'm not comfortable with it where we live. I'm hoping for as intervention-free as possible.
Please send sticky baby thoughts this way, and I'll use my Jedi mind powers to send sticky baby thoughts your way!

Due Date: late Aug/early Sep.
Birth Plans: Really want a homebirth, but having difficulty finding a mw in my area
Location: Buffalo, NY

Yeah, so I am officially due the end of August, but I think I'll be late since this is my first. I'm predicting this moment that I'll give birth on Sep. 9.

Symptoms: Tender breasts (starting to get a little veiny), a little bloated, occassional nausea, and periodic backache. Oh and the one I like: my skin looks very bright.

Becky: I think I posted my BFP about 2 or 3 days before you got yours. By the way, my dh loved the book and just finished it.

Omg....

...I can't believe I'm about to post here!

Hello Ladies!

Name: Nicole
Age: 36
Previous Pregnancies: This is the #1
Due Date: September 1ish
Birth Plans: Would love a home birth
Location: MD
Current Symptoms: Really, really sore boobs, tiredness, hungry every couple of hours and a littel irritability and some cramping

I just POAS first thing this morning. It came as a huge surprise as we were taking a break from paying attention to charts, etc. And just decided to go with the flow. I decided to myself last night my boobs were too sore to be normal and AF was past due by 5 days. We still can't believe it! I don't even know where to start. I bought some RR tea today. I don't really have a midwife or gyn. I have a friend who is studying to be CPM but lives in another state. She says I really don't have to see anyone right now but should start thinking about what kind of birth we want to have before we start our prenatal care.
Wow, I'm just still taking it all in. I look forward to getting know you ladies and for the threads to come.
Peace and Congrats to all.

Oh twins! Wow, exciting! I am definitely not prepared for that as we intend for this to be our last baby. I'll be relieved after the first u/s. I think twins would have been great for the 1st or 2nd pregnancy however!
