What to do with the wrapping paper???? (x posted w/mhm)

So we received gifts wrapped with regular wrapping paper and I'm really wanting to use it someway besides throwing it out. I don't know if I should just throw it in the recycle bin or try to find something else to do with it...

Any suggestions or ideas would be great.

I have two ideas: 1) you could smooth it out with a warm iron and reuse it to wrap gifts or 2) you could cut out different motifs and let your kids use them to make Christmas cards next year. (Just glue them on cardstock or construction paper.)

There are also a million different ways to make ornaments out of leftover cards. I bet that they could be easily adapted for wrapping paper. Check out www.diynetwork.com, especially the Carol Duvall show.

For our wedding, my mom gathered up all the gift wrapping from the presents. She later presented us with a framed mosaic-type piece of art. It's really beautiful and has been hanging in our bathroom for years. You can piece together any design....a star, a christmas tree, a varriety of ornaments. My mother used a sort of 'puffy' paint to accentuate and outline the edges of each piece. Add a nice border around your design, frame it, and you have next year's Christmas gifts!

I ironed it out and let the kids do paper weaving we made some cute place mats for next christmas

Just wondering, not being rude at all, but how do you give gifts? Unwrapped, wrapped in material? Gift bags? Just curious. We wrap ours in regular paper or in cloth material, but would love to know other ways of wrapping.
