Checking to see how everyone is doing?

Lillie is 7 weeks old. She is a strong baby.
She cooos and smiles alot.
I estimate she weighs about 11.5 lbs.
She is healthy-other than a small umbilical hernia which made her bellybutton infected.
But its trying to heal.
Skin is soft and smooth again *she had bad baby acne*
Happy new year to u all.

Well....We are doing great!!!

Jaxon is amazing!! Sleeps lots...which is weird for us because our first two never did and actually still aren't great sleepers!!! He is 6 weeks old and recognizes me and smiles and coos lots!!! Breastfeeding is great as it always is!! Except my left breast is always engorged and my left never is!! Weird!! I am always lopsided ....Jaxon weighs close to 15 pounds already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is such a porker!!!

Happy new year to everyone!!!!

This ddc sure has slowed down with the number of posts!!

We are doing great. Lily is a little piggy too! She finally slept without one of us holding for only the second time ever last night!! I'm high on 6 hours of sleep!! She still woke to feed but getting a few 2 hour sessions of sleep in a row was awesome. I am missing being pregnant a little but loving being a first time mom. My baby blues went away after about 10 days and now I am happy that ever!

Baby TJ is great! He is just getting some baby acne, but is growing like a weed! He's lost som hair--but only on the top of his head! Looks like a balding old man! hahaha
He sleeps at least 4hrs at a time at night, and we mastered nursing while laying down, so I've not been as sleep deprived as I was with dd...thank God, since I still have to function and care for a 4yr old ya know?
My folks are still here helping, dh is still deployed until Feb, and xmas flew by as a blur!
I'm interested in what my hormones are doing right now--will probably post a Q in Birth and Beyond--but my baby belly was almost able to fit in my old jeans...then recently my belly above my bellybutton seems bigger...I have my faint linea negra back, and this is all coinciding with TJs growth spurt and baby acne...hmmm...sounds like my hormones are doing something 'different'...anyone else?

DD is 6 weeks old today, weighs about 10.5 lbs. Last night she slept 5 hours straight. She's got her first cold - she's had it almost a week. She's absolutely adorable - a very cheerful and easy baby.

I'm exhausted and have not lost a lot of pregnancy weight and have edema (swelling in my legs - lymphodema says my Dr.), I'm still bleeding and have an appt. for an ultrasound, my perineum still has not healed completely and I must remember to keep up those sitz baths!

DD and DS ADORE their baby sister...and DH is ABSOLUTELY SMITTEN!

Two big accomplishments yesterday

My daughter is doing well.
She feeds a lot and is growing, but I don't know how much she weighs.
Four weeks old today. Bummies SWW newborn size are at the end of the fitting range if that can give an idea though...
Yesterday was our third trip to the mall, and we manage to nurse in the sling while walking around. It was awesome. People had no idea...
Other accomplishment, I had a shower!!! Normally I do it when someone is home with me to watch her, but I did it on my own. Put dd in the bouncy seat in the bathroom and she stayed there happily while I showered.
She sleeps quite well tightly swaddled at night hlf in her bassinette, half in our bed, but is not a day napper. Unless kept in the sling/wrap, she wakes up quite fast. I get a lot of "you shouldn't do that" type of comments about me slinging her for naps.
I gave up the disposable for "convenience" while going out the day we had a major blow-out and I ended up having to change her clothes and carry a poopy sleeper back home anyways. Cloth diapers and wet bag just follow us around now.
I don't think I got the baby blues thing. I am still awaiting the day where I get my bowels back to a normal state though... Was below pre-preg weight 4-5 days after the birth. Most of my preg clothes have already been stashed away, I looked like I was wearing potato sack with them!
I am still looking forward to discover more of dd as she is getting more and more aware of the big world around her.

We are all well...snowed in for the second week in a row!!! I traded some awful christmas gifts at the local used baby store for an easy swaddler wrap and I am so glad I did! It makes wrapping Yarrow up so easy!

My dh gave me a mommy and baby yoga dvd and the book "happiest baby on the block" for christmas. I tore through the book in two days and I am so glad I read it. It gave me some new ideas for helping my dd sleep ( and I love that he tells you to sling them for naps if thats what you baby wants) but also importantly helped me regain my confidence in my parenting. Even after two others, and a class full of infants, I think some of those desenting voices had made their way through to my brain and were eating away at my confidence! I did think she had colic but I took her to be adjusted yesterday and the chiro thought that she was really in good shape (nice to hear) so I think I am still just getting to know her.

I have been eating like crap because of being snowed in with everyone. Last week dh bought a bunch of junk food to make missing school and work seem like even more "fun." Okay I can handle that. Then his did it AGAIN yesterday!!! Um...okay dd is off school for break and he is off on friday and sat this week...his excuse was that they were all out of a bunch of stuff at the store so he had to get chips and coke.

Maybe...they were out of milk, eggs and bread...but we have all those things...so what was he looking for??

my sweet pea is one month old and has gained 2 pounds since we left the hospital so she's over 7 pounds now. nursing has been quite different this time around - lots of leaking and spurting so I actually need to wear breastpads. I still get caught off guard by it!

however, nights are trickier. our first daughter slept good 4-5 hour stretches pretty early on and had no trouble nursing in lying down. our new little girl wakes more frequently and gets really gassy at night. it really starts to bother her around 3 or 4 am and she then just fusses and squirms off-and-on for a good 3 hours, drifting in and out of sleep as she's tucked in with me. so i've been sitting up to nurse and then holding her upright and trying to burp her for another 15 minutes or so if I can keep myself upright. it seems to be helping, but then I'm up for quite a bit of the night. The other thing that is helping her is to rock her to sleep and put her down in the co-sleeper at the beginning of the night. somehow she goes back to sleep easier for her night nursing sessions if we start the night out this way, as opposed to nursing her to sleep or holding her in bed.

our 2-yo has been a little mommy - wanting to hold her sister and help take care of her. she also nurses her lovey - it is so cute!

CanBoo, which sling do you use? I have a fleece pouch from Kangaroo Korner and I did nurse when we took our 2-yo to the zoo last week, but it wasn't completely hands-free. But then again, I have small breasts (we're talking 34 AA pre-pregnancy and barely an A cup even now). When I see other women nursing on the go, they have more flesh to maneuver, IYKWIM!

I have a lightly padded ring sling from nurtured cub. Breast size above yours but I am still quite small. 34B pre, up to 36C. She was in a vertical carry and I just slid her on the side (head away from the rings). She easily slides in that posiiton anyways.

Interesting! I can't nurse in the sling either (I was able to once my kids were toddlers and had really big heads and my nipples were bomb proof), and I've always thought it's because my boobs are so BIG, like way too much flesh! So, maybe there's some perfect average-sized boob that it works best with (I don't know exactly what size I am, but I think like a 36 E or DD).

Things are going well for us too! I feel like hitting the six-week mark was a pretty big deal. Zeben seems like so much more of a person now suddenly. He finally started smiling a lot, right at 6 weeks (my babies take FOREVER to smile!), and is holding his head up off the ground when he's on his belly now. Both of these things make him seem so much older. He also weighs almost 15 pounds. He's totally huge. He sometimes takes a good two-hour nap in the Amby hammock bed in the late afternoon/early evening, but otherwise needs to be in the sling or right next to me in bed to stay asleep. At night he nurses every 2-3 hours, but I really sleep through it (after latching him on), so I feel amazingly well rested. I don't know how people do it without cospleeping. I think I would go insane. My milk supply is starting to even out some, and he doesn't usually choke while nursing anymore, and can sometimes even get a little comfort nursing in without getting overly full.

We are totally converted to the BumGenius! One Size pocket diapers and loving them. I'm worried that he's going to outgrow them before he's a year old, though! He's down to one big poop a day, but still does teensy squirts all day long which keeps us going through the diapers at a pretty quick rate.

Zeben still breathes really fast, and we still have to see doctors every couple of weeks, but at this point they are mostly thinking he will outgrow it. It doesn't seem to be impacting him at all. We did end up getting him the RSV shot (not a vaccine, but similar), which was sooo hard for me (my other kids haven't had any shots), but we made it through without any adverse reactions. I'm still pretty stressed out about him getting sick since we just don't know what his lungs would do. It's hard since his big brothers want to love all over him all the time, and they are pretty germy guys! We've been pumping them full of immune system boosters (we love the "Children's Winter Health" tincture), and they haven't gotten sick even though a couple of times it's seemed like they were about to. I'm hoping that my breastmilk will keep Zeb healthy too.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well!

Lex (and Zeb)

We are still hanging in there. DD2 will be 10 weeks old on Monday. She is still on O2, maybe in a couple weeks she'll be able to come off of it. We had to head to the ER right after X-Mas for another IV. She smiles all the time now, she loves her big sis. She still sleeps a alot, I think that once she gets better, she'll wake up some more. It doesn't look like our insurance will over the Synagis (the RSV shot that lexbeach was talking about) which sucks because DD2 is considered to have chronic lung disease now. We can't go anywhere anyway with DD2, I am going crazy sitting at home day after day. I'm terrified of getting sick with something else, she has no reserves, and her lungs are still in bad shape. I haven't been letting DD1 play with her friends because of the illness thing, she is bouncing off the walls.

Our biggest issue right now is DD2's weight, or lack of. She has lost so much, she is done to 8lbs 1ozs. I nurse her constantly but she pukes up a fair amount still and burns so many calories fighting this. We go back in next week for another weight check.

On a positive note, she is so cute, and such a wonderful addition to our family.

Mikaela suudenly became a different baby at 6 weeks, too. She's regularly holding her head up now and smiling a lot - and not just preceeding spitting up . She's starting to "talk" and coo instead of only crying, crying loudly, and screaming. I still think she might have reflux (don't remember if I talked about that here...), but I recently cut out dairy and she seems more comfortable. It sucks because I'm a dairy freak, but seeing her happy and in less pain makes it worth it.

She a really efficient nurser - she's on, she's off. Rarely will she comfort nurse. She'll sleep for up to 5 hours at a stretch at night, though 3.5-4 is more common. And she'll sleep in the co-sleeper to start out the night (probably would go back after nursing... but I'm asleep before she's done Speaking of sling nursing... I haven't been successful this time yet. I had the most success with Robert in a homemade ring sling - I should try that. When Mikki is slung, she's almost always in my Moby wrap. That has proven quite difficult to nurse in (but SO COMFY for babywearing!).

She's just so laid back - such a joy to be around! I feel so blessed to have her

My DD is exactly the same - smiling, cooing...and crying loudly! I also cut out dairy b/c of projectile vomiting and it seems to be a bit better...

However, DD is not as efficient a nurser as her siblings were...they were on and off...she lingers...on...off...burp...on...off...burp...chan ge...on...off...
you get the picture!

She sleeps at night between 3 and 5 hours - so we are lucky! DS slept all night - I mean all night - at least 7-9 hours...but he was unusual...still is at 12!

I feel like an imposter posting on thisw forum now since Rusty wasn't a NOv babe in the end, LOL! But I'll play along anyway

Rusty is 3 mos old today, weighs 12 pounds 2 ounces (how's that for awesome breastfeeidng growth? He was 5 pounds, 12 ounces at birth 6 weeks early) He is the sweetest baby ever. Smiles, coos, and generally just a happy, awesome little bub. He's just started rolling belly to back, and he gets this crazy happy look on his face when he does it

very quick update. nice to skim the messages, though i am spending a lot more time in real life with dd, ds and dh, and a lot less on the internet. lovely to see everyone getting comfortable with their new babes, dd is 7 weeks today. extremely strong - has had a stable head the last two weeks. smiling a lot just in the last week. not a good daytime sleeper - a bit complainy if not moving in the pram, car or on a shoulder. so i am getting very little done. but tanks up in the eve and then sleeps 3-5 hour stretches every night. so i am well rested. enjoying the year off - we get 50 weeks paid maternity leave - so no complaints! Happy new year to all the mommas and babes.

Little Roo is a porker too. He had his 2 month appointment yesterday and he weighed 14lbs 5 oz. He sure takes the cake when it comes to size with all my babies. I really cant complain, with Ariel she cried constantly wanted to be held all the time, Jaxon was another cryer but I think he was colic. Roo is not a cryer in anyway shape or form. Only when something needs to be done for him. Hes mamas little sweetheart and hes always smiling. The kids adore him and his first christmas was great. Its been a great holiday season with him, and I cant imagine my family without him.

Our DDC has really slowed down. I do a whole lot more reading than posting due to pumping at the keyboard. It takes too long to type with one hand! Emerson is sleeping right now and I just did a bunch of cleaning so this is my treat while I munch on veggies.

We are doing much better now. Emerson had his first four hour stretch of sleep earlier this week and another stretch last night. We had a call from his doctor and the CT scan came back as normal. What a relief! We are going for an appointment next week.

He is still having breastfeeding challenges. I am pumping more and more while he is breastfeeding less and less. I am considering upgrading and renting something more powerful because my mini electric isn't going to keep cutting it if I want to continue.

I think my only challenge is lack of sleep. I want to get back to exercising regularly but I am too tired to do it. I can feel that I have gained weight and it isn't a comfortable feeling!

See you over in Life With A Babe!

Glad to hear you're doing better and great about the CT scan!

I know what you mean about the pumping - I seem to pump a lot and DD seems to BF less. HUH? I'm using a Pump in Style Advanced and would love to try a hospital grade pump. What are you using?

Know what you mean about the lack of sleep....sometimes it feels like my mind goes BLANK mid conversation...very often!

I've been feeling rather stressed after the holidays. DS is a much less settled baby that DD was, doesn't feed for long at once but is on and of all day (and night most nights). He does love laying on his changing mat without a nappy though and is just starting to look around a lot more and smile.

I feel much more trapped at home than I did with my first. I'm quite happy NIP but it's hard to amuse a toddler at the same time. It's also been pretty wet here for the last couple of weeks so we haven't got out much. Playgroups are starting again this weeks though so hopefully that will change.

Off to our first LLL meeting with DS tommorow and I'm looking forward to that.
