x-posted in breastfeeding forum....

i have a terrible cold/sinus infection and i am desperate for some relief... i cant breathe, or sleep, and i am in serious pain. but my mw said NO decongestants because it will dry up my milk. she said that i MIGHT be able to take fenugreek (4x daily) and a tiny bit of benadryl to get some relief but no totally dry up my milk.

HELP! i cant stop bf my dd (and dont have enough volume to pump like crazy and then not bf for a day or so while i take medication). surely i am not the only mama to deal with this??

Have you looked on kellymom.com? I love that site. A quick search turned up this.

Good Luck! Being sick is so sucky

Do you have a local La Leche League leader? If you give them the name of some medications - they can look them up for you. Sometimes doctors just prefer to say - you can't take it while you bf - even though it is completely wrong. There are cold medications you can take. I've taken some, but unfortunately I cannot remember which one. Sorry. I hope you feel better soon.

Being sick sucks....

I took nyquil with my daughter but she was 2 at the time so I don't know if it affected supply.

I second the LLL suggestion

I took robitussin dm when I had a terrible cold. Didn't help the sinus part, but made the coughing more bearable. I only took it 1x day and it didn't affect my supply (I pump several times at work and didn't notice a decrease at all.) Just make sure to keep your water intake up.
