hi,
my daughter(2.75) has some red patches behind her knees, and on the back of her thighs. they seem to be itchy. dr. says it is dry skin. i have tried fish oil, but doesn't seem to help. do you think this is excema? allergies? any suggestions? thanks

Could be eczema, since that is a pretty broad diagnoses for many different rashes. I wouldn't suspect allergies just on that alone, especially if it is seasonal.

We use A&D oinment (not the diaper rash cream). Lanolin is also good. DS's allergist recommends aquaphor.

That's how my dd's eczema presented. It was also under her arms. When we found out her allergens and eliminated them from our diets (by elimination and by skin-prick test with allergist) her skin cleared up.

I would use lanolin on the rash and not a commercial lotion, nut oil, or fish oil, since those can be allergic in and of themselves. I would encourage you to investigate the allergy angle. The "dry skin" bit is really silly, imo, because *behind the knees* is a classic eczema-allergy spot. Perhaps you could see a pediatric allergist instead of a regular pedi for this problem. Good luck.
