What are you doing New Years Eve?

Ok, as this pregnancy came as a Holiday surprise on the 3rd day of Christmas, I was unprepared to not be able to drink this NYE.
I am a glass of red wine a night kinda gal. I love my red wine. I even had a cocktail the night before I tested. Of course, I haven't a sip of it since even though I'm still craving (and have been before testing) a mamosa!

Anyhow, our friends are having a dress to the nines NYsE party with lots of sparkling drinks. This crowd WILL notice that I'm not drinking. I already kinda have a not feeling well sort of story but it's more my temptation that I'm worried about. I am, I admit it, a social drinker.

DH and I did go to a dinner party last night and I brought a bottle of sparkling water and no one asked but this isn't the party crowd. The NYsE crowd is the party crowd.
Anyway, I thought I would share and I'm sure I'll be fine. It's all about Baby now!

If you don't mind lying: "I overdid it last night and ugh, the thought of another drink right now, yuck." . . . "I told dh that I'd be the Designated Driver tonight. The cops don't play games on NYsE." I think you'll do fine with the temptation, b/c you'll be reminded that this is very early development time, yk? Some people think its ok to have a drink a day while pg, but I think I'd prefer to wait until a little later in the pregnancy.

I'm skipping out on hanging with my friends for NYsE, but that's b/c they're smokers, so there's no escaping their toxins. We're going to the SIL's house and eating dips, fried turkey, desserts . . . I'm so excited!

Funny story, about 2 years ago we went to SIL's for NYsE and her best friend was there, very newly pg and of course very tired. She fell asleep in a chair at about 10:30ish. I turned to my dh and said, "That's what we get for spending NYsE with the old fogies." Now I'm gonna be the "old fogie" falling asleep at 10.

I guess that will be a challenge. I'm not sure I have any ideas....you could tell them.... you gave up drinking as a New Year's resolution! Or that you are doing a full body cleanse. Or....hmmmm

I'll be sleeping. I'm used to not going out as we have 2 other young kids. Getting a sitter isn't a problem; but we still would have to get up at 6am with them the next morning.

I haven't been able to stay up past 7:30 for the past 2 weeks. DP had to tell his friends yesterday because I couldn't even go bowling at 9:30.

We may watch a video after the kids are in bed. Woo-hoo

Nikki,
If you don't want to explain why you're not drinking, maybe you could take your own bottle of something non-alcoholic, drink it out of a wine glass, and maybe no one will be the wiser.

You could always say you're on antibiotics (for what? I don't know.. strep throat or something) and can't drink while you're on them.

Or you could just walk around with a drink in your hand and every now and then switch glasses with your husband (after he's had some of his)... that's a fun little game to play.

I was never a big drinker, so it's not going to be a big deal for me to not have any champagne at the party we're going to, although before I tested my husband went out and bought two bottles of my FAVORITE champagne, not thinking that he should wait til I tested.. now they're in our fridge TEMPTING me.... Oh well... next NYE?

Thanks Gals.

I've already set the stage for tomorrow night by mentioning to some I haven't been feeling well this week And hubby and have a plan in place if I want to leave early. He may stay if I go but it's all good. I made it to midnight, barely, last night.
I like to take photos so I figure I can keep myself busy with that if I start to get antsy.
Hope you all have a happy and healthy New Year's Eve!

I love this. Its kind of like playing secret agent at the party.

We're going to my SIL's. A friend of ours has a turkey in her freezer she wants to get rid of so we're having another Xmas dinner.

My SIL already knows and we'll be telling the rest of them so I don't have to worry about giving it away by not drinking. I'm not that huge of a drinker anyway.

I already know we'll be leaving well before the ball drops. I didn't stay up last year either and I wasn't even pregnant!
