ghee (clarified butter)

My dd has not had any confirmed dairy allergy but her GI wants her off all dairy to see if she feels better. I just read on another post about ghee not having any casein in it. I also saw on the allergy table that ghee is least allergenic. So can my dd have ghee? It would be a wonderful, flavorful source of calories for her. She's not so keen about olive oil.

I personally would not do it while you're doing a trial run dairy free. After she has been feeling better for awhle (if she does feel better being dairy free), then I would try it at that point.

There is no certainty that all the proteins would be removed. It's not worth it.

There are many other oils that may work for her. What about coconut oil? Or flax seed oil? Or non-dairy butter spread?

I've been using olive oil mostly. It just doesn't taste great. She has severe feeding aversions and would not try flax seed oil. Hmm maybe coconut oil. Although in dh's native India people don't cook with it-- they use it for hair oil! They cook with ghee.

ds is dairy allergic and reacts to ghee. I'd say no.
