Yeah, people can be so insensitive. For some reason, pregnancy invites every asinine comment that goes through virtually every person's head.

Sorry you had to deal with that.

What's ironic to me is that in the same day, same outfit, same STORE I can be told I am "huge" and "not big enough to be due in 2 1/2 weeks!" I had a very sweet cashier tell me that I looked wonderful! I thanked her and she went on to say how much she hated everyone telling her she was huge, so she makes a point of telling pregnant women how nice they look (and she added, and in your case, it's true!)

with dd, when she was three weeks old, ON CHRISTMAS! my fil asked me if I was sure there wasn't another one in there.... :

He's lucky he's an old man or I may have decked him...

I always get the extremes. "You're so HUGE you're going to pop!" or "Why aren't you bigger?" WTH? Is there no middle ground?

On Thanksgiving my Grandmother told me that "they" needed to give me a water pill because I was getting too big. What does that even mean? I haven't spoken to her since because I don't need that kind of crap right now.

Someone was actually stupid enough to say to dh at our family Christmas, that he thinks we are having twins - I am carrying one and my husband is carrying the other. It was someone from my side of the family, and I just felt so bad for dh and I thought it was so freaking RUDE. People can be so insensitive sometimes... please try to remember that it is about them, and try not to internalize their comments.

I had a man say under his breath (but loud enough for me to hear) say "Oh my GOD" under breathe as I walked by. Well I'm 37.5 weeks with twins and I walk jsut fine! But I am huge. What am suppossed to do hide? When people make comments I just say "yeah...it's twins and I could be pregnant for another 4 weeks" Then I watch them turn a pasty shade of white

I think the hardest thing is that we would NEVER say the things to others that people say to us. Really, can you imagine telling *anyone* that she is huge, at any time? NO!

I have been told that I am huge, that I am "too small" and also a few assorted nice comments. The "too small" lady thought she was being nice. In the first two trimesters, I didn't gain any weight because I was vomiting every day, and of course, I was already worried about that.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.

I have just been SO tired of the comments/stares as of late. I was walking down the street yesterdsay when someone thought I was out of earshot and said that to a friend.... :

Yes, I AM huge. I am almost 40 weeks pregnant. I have big babies. I wasn't a teeny thing before pregnancy. BUT, being huge does not make me DEAF, you creep!

Don't you just wish people would ignore pregnancy and talk about safe topics like the weather? No one in her right mind would comment to someone who has cancer "Gee, you've lost a lot of hair" or "Gee, you haven't lost much weight, have you?" Or to someone with a goiter "Wow, that's some growth on your neck." So why is pregnancy any different?

I get comments about how I don't look pregnant enough, so I say that I've put on 30 pounds and that my baby is just tucked up inside me. Then people gawk at me like I've just told them I believe that King Kong lives.
