Twins?

I think twins are just great!----for other people. I only want 3 kids, and I have 2, and am pregnant. I have had very difficult post-partums with both, and I am especially sensitive to sleep deprivation. So I'm really hoping to not have twins.

BUT, I am getting a little bit freaked out by a bunch of stuff...first, I got my + test at 8-9 dpo, which is not freakishly early, but could be because of higher hcg levels (twins?). Second, my early pregnancy symptoms are really exaggerated versus previous 2 times. I'm always in bed by 7pm, and constantly tired. I'm ravenously hungry, horribly nauseaus, and all that other fun stuff (hello, bloat?). Also, this might be TMI, but this was our first cycle trying and we conceived right away. Probably in large part because we BDed nearly every single day this cycle. If there were 2 eggs, his boys woulda got them LOL. Also, he's got great sperm; again TMI but last time we weren't really planning the pg, and, well, um, the one time we didn't use protection was a second-shot deal, if you kwim. His second time within 5 minutes. So, what he's got must be motile if not abundant. Yeah, sorry for that TMI! But those do contribute to my worry.

I guess I won't know for sure until an u/s. That will be at 11 weeks. Unless this stuff keeps getting worse, or my bloodwork comes back with elevated levels of all the things that indicate multiples.

Anyone else actually fearing the possibility?

Hmmm...I fear twins because of all the extra work. And the last couple months of pregnancy are hard on my body, I would dread the last two months with twins!

I'm not concerned that this pregnancy is twins, but I was praying that we'd be able to do this on our own and not have to go back to the RE. We had to go there for #2, and she was originally twins. I was scared that if we went back, this time the twins would stick. It sucked when I found out the one stopped developing, but only for a few days. It was fairly easy to see the silver lining behind that cloud. I know a lot of people think it would be great to have twins, but I totally understand your apprehension.

I'm really nervous about the possibility of twins. I'd love it, but I can't imagine having twins and a 2 year old! I have two sisters who each have had a set of twins so the odds of my conceiving twins are really high.

So far my symptoms are actually really mild compared to my last pg. Don't know about my levels since I didn't test until my period was 5 days late (I was in denial LOL.)

I would be surprised if I had twins but I wouldn't be unhappy about it. Shocked, yes. My dh would sure be in crazyland as well. We only want 3 kids as well and getting him to agree to #3 was hard enough...if we had twins he may just lose it! LOL! I just got my bfp today and although I *think* I'm 12dpo I had a VERY dark line on both of my frer's. The test line was as dark as the control line! But I hope it just means we have a healthy pg this time.

Multiples is one of my biggest fears.

Sounds like me exactly! We just had an u/s and it's only one thank goodness. But your description is what I've had so far!

Hi!
We just found out we got a BFP today! But, we also know that we have a chance of twins, as I had a vaginal ultrasound before the insemination, and I was releasing 1 egg from each side.
We are actually, at least at this point, excited with the prospect of twins. I know our ttc journey was shorter than many peoples', but it was still hard (and 10 months long), and cost us a fair bit (financially). I think if we got twins, we'd feel releaved in a way, that we wouldn't HAVE to go through the process again, for a sibling -- although we still might.
We know it is lots of work, and I believe we are committed to that. (I say this before we totally know, of course!)
Anyways, just wanted to add our perspective.
[We are still shocked to even be pregnant!]

The way I look at it, August DDC has four lots of twins- above average for a DDC- and therefore we might possibly not have any. We have twins on both sides of the family, but on my side they're identical, so no hereditary link.
If the stork brings twins here, he'd better be planning on sticking around for a while to act as an unpaid au pair, that's all I'm saying. Three under 2? Can you imagine?

Forgot to say:
Melissa, you've got two girls, right? Ever considered that all this upheaval and nausea and vomiting and sheer total shoot-me-now-PLEASE exhaustion could just be because you've got a little Y chromosome floating around in there????????

Me, I'm terrified of the possibility of twins! But as of right now my symptoms seem to be less severe than last pregnancy and that's gotta be a good sign. Working as a postpartum doula I know how much more work two is than one and all we were planning on one more, with a 2 and 1 year old already another two would put us in the crazy house!

This is me too. People think I am 16+ weeks pregnant and I am only 9. Fraternal twins run in my family (mom had a stillborn twin for my sister and my great-grandma had fraternal twins). We only picked up one heartbeat at 9 weeks but I'm not convinced yet. We'll see in a couple of weeks.

I have had the same fear, big time! Twins run rampant in my family so there is always a chance. It would really freak me out to find out I had twins. Soo...I got an U/S yesterday cuz I couldn't take it anymore b/c I keep sensing there are two of them. The U/S only showed one but for some reason, I still don't believe it!!! I've been thinking for weeks I had twins, so when she showed me one, I was just like, nope, one must be hiding behind the other one. I don't know what my deal is, but I honestly still don't believe it. So I'm not going to keep getting U/S cuz I don't think that's a good thing to do. So I'll just have to wait to see if my mw and I can figure it out much later on in the pregnany. I know, I'm so sillY!

Congrats starevan! Glad you are happy & excited about it!!!

We'll not know til the 18th week U/S, unless somehow at our next (13week) midwife visit she finds 2 heartbeats.
