ChaCha is no longer accepting new guides at this time. Sorry!
ChaCha.com is an internet search engine powered by real people. I've been a part of the ChaCha team as a guide since October. The way it works; you as a guide search on the internet for the public. The more time you spend searching, the more money you earn. You aren't compensated for the time you are available to search, just the time spent searching. (Which you get paid for the first 6 minutes of searching.)
You start out training (as an apprentice) on 3 "keywords" that you pick and are knowledgable about. Once you make it to Pro level, you get paid to do real searches with the public. As a Master guide, I make 50 cents per search. Pro and Master guides also get paid to train other guides.
You can go to http://www.chacha.com/ to try out the search engine.
(Use the "Search with Guide" button to get an idea how guides conduct a search.)

Other info you need to know to qualify to be a guide:
You must be over the age of 18, and legally authorized to work in the United States. They like their guides to be able to spell correctly, use correct grammar, and be fluent in English. Being polite when you are doing searches is also a big must (infoseekers rate you, good rates help you advance to a higher level!) You need to have high speed internet (e.g. dsl, cable).
In order to run the program on your computer when doing searches, you need to have 30MB+ of storage available on your computer. And of course, being able to quickly navigate the internet and find relevant info is what being a ChaCha guide is about.
ChaCha pays you by giving you a debit card. You set up an online account with an online bank. When you are ready to use your money you've earned, you transfer the money over to your internet bank account. (Takes $2 of your earned money each time you transfer.) However, There are no cost to you in becoming a guide or any other hidden cost.
This is NOT a pyramid scheme, you really only get what you put into it. Somedays I don't loggin at all. Somedays I'll spend a couple of hours... It's up to you to decide how much time you're willing to spend doing it.
