Well, I only have MY input since dh remains tacet on the name subject until the baby comes out (literally). It's such a pain! Here's my name choices so far, which I'm sure will be vetoed by him

boy: Jack Henry

girl: Lily (no clue on middle yet)

plus jack & lily are both super popular names right now. i found that out AFTER naming ds jack. bummer.
that shouldn't stop you, if you're really enamored with the names, but it's something to consider.

I did notice that Lily is uber popular right now. Lucy has been added to my list though.

not your DDC but

Individuation: I LOVE Naomi, but we can't use it because DH's name starts with N. I LOVE Eleanor (my grandmother's name) but DH doesn't. :

too much to love: Thumbs up for Lily.

RaceCar: I think Henry Reed works, because Ree is not a "hard" sound, unlike, e.g., a c/k.

fw221: what about Joy as a middle name? My mom said in a speech that if they had it to do over they would have given me the middle name of Joy because I give them so much joy.

This always seems to happen to me.. I am always on the fringe I guess. Both ds1 and ds3 have popular names but not for their birth year it's usually a couple of years after they were born. Ds2 has a unique name and I'd like to keep it that way. I guess my perspective on popular names is because my name was so common there was always another Nicole/Nichole or Nicholas in my class. It was frustrating to me because I always had to change my name so there was less confusion.. either by adding my last initial or some other way to differentiate. When I was in an alternative high school program there were 8 kids in my class. 3 of them were Nicole/Nichole's and 2 of them were Nick's.. needless to say I was unimpressed.

I love the name Sawyer for a girl or boy. That was the name of my flower girl a long time ago, and I have always thought it was a nice name.

We have the popular vote going against us for our girl name. In my defense I have loved this name for almost 10 years (when I lived in Italy), but it is now number 5 on the list.... Isabella Marie (Marie is a family name...would be the 4th generation Marie). I hate it when everyone makes a somewhat unpopular name super popular. How does that happen? I have thought about changing the name, but my mom finally loves the name (after trying to get me to change it for years). I just don't know, but Bella and Benji sounds so cute together. I also like Violet (my grandmother was Viola), but it doesn't work so great with our last name.

We are in the process of working on the boy name. We kind of like Logan Everett now. I really like the name Emerson, but I have been seriously vetoed by...everyone. As a former school teacher, I am a little nervous about naming a child a super unusual name/spelling, but I don't want every child in the class to have the same name. My sister is really good at coming up with any tease that may be put to a name so she is a good sounding board, too. That is kind of funny because she was never a teaser or a teased person.

Wow! This naming bit is SO hard!

We are using our leftover name too: Wyatt David. But I have always loved the name Josh/Joshua but dh says absolutely not.
Our girl name is Xxavier. We haven't come up with a middle name for her yet.
We also have a tradition in our family. My grandmother named all of her dds with a town in WV (where we live). My mom and aunts all continued the tradition and most of my cousins too. My dc's all have names of towns too. So we are good with either Wyatt and Xxavier. (I can't remember who said it, but for this reason I like Weston, too!)
What would even go with Xxavier for a girl? I have tossed around Gabriella, Jacim, and Lynn (my middle name before I got married). But, our last name ends with a "n", so that kind of kicks out Lynn.
Who knows what I will come up with!

names have actually been the easiest part of all our decision making...

boy- we're going with william lamar, III and calling him Tripp

girl- ava hayes after my great grandma, and great great who was born on our due date, which is a coincidence as we already had name picked out before we knew we're preg.

we going with the sentimental family name route on the first go round!

I like to keep my names top secert (though my mom somehow got it out of me) but I love this site:

http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html

We always try to be original but to "crazy" either. My daughter likes flower child names. Everything is raindow or butterfly or willow. I can't say I am an advocate of letting older sibling have any say in naming! Do parents really do that? I have see it in parenting magazines as a way to let your older child be "invloved." Anyway, we are orthodox christians so we usually look towards saints names for insperation, that always makes the names original but not unusual. That's our cup of tea.

Well, now I'm learning toward Asa. I told my dh that I'd give him the Robert (his late grandfathers name) as a middle if I could have the Asa (means "healer"). He seems open to it.

Though really, I'm vibin' pretty hard on this babe being a girl!
