we finally just got our christmas tree down today too

anyway, i have purged 143 additional items to go to the goodwill. i haven't been counting garbage at all. i still have to go through the left side of the kitchen. desk, guest bedroom closet and the master bathroom cabinet. also, i have to go through the nursery and get rid of a massive amount of clothing in preparation for new baby. i am starting to realize that i am going to easily meet my challenge, but i am not going to raise it because i want to give myself a break and will set a new challenge in february.

that brings my total to 235/400.

15 empty boxes
1 book
2 flatware organizers that won't fit any of the drawers in the apartment
1 extra can opener
10 empty dvd cases
1 big stack of old reciepts

For at total of 59/300...and 241 more things to go

We've still got a lot of unpacking to do so if I can keep tossing while unpacking we should start out pretty organized.

I cleared out 3 more bags of clothes today (mostly kids stuff) and one broken dresser. That makes 15/20 bags/boxes (I'm counting the dresser as 1 bag/box) for me. My motivation today was the fact that the dresser was broken and I need to somehow squeeze 4 kids worth of clothing into one dresser and one closet. Since I'm also on a no-spend month buying a new dresser was out of the question. I was surprised at just how much stuff they had in there that they never wear. What's even more shocking is that I went through their clothes 2 weeks ago and thought I had done well at decluttering their wardrobe! Maybe I should go through my stuff again...

I got rid of 55 more items today -- some ice packs from the freezer, some bras that are too small for me, and my daughter's old potty. I finally had to accept that my breasts will never fit into the bras I had pre-pregnancy. This brings my total to 160/500.

When I got home from work yesterday, the 10 azalea bushes from the planting bed in front of our house were gone. I intend to make this bed into an herb garden. Last summer, DH and I had cleaned out about 1/2 the bed. My aunt said she wanted the azaleas, but we could never co-ordinate a time to get them to her. A couple weeks ago, she decided she did not actually want the azaleas. So I mentioned to a neighbor that he could have them. Yesterday they were dug up and already planted in the neighbors yard. This is really terrific because I have bricks to edge the bed, plus topsoil and manure to dig into it (I'm in Florida and all we have for dirt is pure sand). I also have a long weekend coming up! So I'm going to be able to get some stuff out of the garage and get some of these herb seeds planted. I'm really excited about this!

I think this brings me to 43/351 items for the month. I really have to get on the stick and get some stuff out of my house.

Okay, not much, but a big accomplishment. 3 bottles that had less than enough to use in our shower. You know how hard those things are to get rid of... So while small in number, feels better in our shower now

Since going no 'poo about three weeks ago, I donated all of my unopened shampoo/conditioner bottles to the womens shelter. YEA!! (already accounted for in my tallys)

got going this morning. finally went through a box of school supplies that has been sitting in mygarge for a year. donated most of that to dd's school. took that big box of shooes and went through it. most of that went to good will. took the bag dd filled up also and some stufff from my pantry area. got rid of 4 boxes of stuff today!

i don't know what to do about stuff thats not selling. i guess i ought to just give it away but the fact is we could use the $$$. some of this stuff i have listed several different ways. as different lots versus individually etc. i try to bump my tp threads different times of the day so they get seen yk. nothing happening with it though. i think maybe i just give it away. it wouldn't be that much $$. : thats how i feel about it.

ive still got a lot pending too maybe 10 that i can think of right off.

i think i've inspired my mom. i took two bags to goodwill for her this morning also.

everyone is really on a roll!

I found a whole large tupperware crate of unused crappy toys we had been given as gifts, so must have gotten rid of at least 50 items. also took the last of the papers, old checks, computer exquipment, gadgets, and magazines we'd been storing in the baby's room out of there, but dh still has to go through the gadgets and computer stuff so I can't count those yet. I did shred a pile of old documents- how do I count that? And got rid of the mags.

Oh!! And someone finally came and got the big wind-up swing that's taken up so much space in our attic!

And freecyclede a steam bottle/pump parts sterilizer that's sat on top of the kitchen cabinet so long that it's become part of the landscape, and cleaned out the CVS bag of random bottle parts we barely ever use, kept 2 and gave the rest to that same person.

We are moving over the course of the next couple weeks and my plan is to bring only what we NEED to the new house, room by room. (Actually, first we'll bring the furniture and the appliances, then move onto each room. Whatever we don't want will be trashed or donated - not even going to trick myself and say we'll get around to selling stuff - and will never even get close to the new house. I'm going to be ruthless - and I can't wait! LOL

So, even though I'm starting late...I still say I will be getting rid of at least 1,000 items by the end of the month.

Last night I cleaned my desk. Literally put everything in a box and started with a desk with no computer, no book, and not a single piece of paper.

I threw away:
2 bags of paperwork
1 power outlet which had the cord chewed through by the bunny

Donating:
2 small items
1 book

Was 192/200
Now 198/200

Everything was taken to goodwill today!!!! I feel a weight lifted off my shoulders. My dh is now bringing in more boxes for me to go through, heavy and up high so I couldn't get to them. AND we returned two sliding glass doors that have been hanging out in our garage. I feel much better.

I've been slacking in this department but I have kept a tally of all that I've gotten rid of in the last few days:

Thrown away -
1 old toothbrush
1 box from DH's new wallet.
1 dead pen
1 stack of journals DH too to his office
1 can organic toddlers formula. where did *that* come from?

I have a bunch more to take to recycling and donation as well. I also have a few things up on Craigslist. We'll see. That makes 31/200. Gotta hurry up...
