We are non vaxers after MUCH research and never had a problem in the states with schools. DS went to a wonderful Montessori school. We decided to move overseas for a few years and I researched again-still deciding not to vax. DS got into the american school with his exemption even though we decided to homeschool in the end. I am a Montessori teacher in training and was very excited for my dd to start Montessori in Jan. (for the 3-5 years) she was denied entrance because of not having vaccines. I filled out all her paper work very non chalantly and attached notorized expemtion forms and just crossed my fingers. We live in a middle eastern country and a lot of my colleagues from training are involved at this school. They flatly said "no" and acted like I was some sort of freak. I just said "really?? You dont accept children even with a religious exemption?" like I had NEVER heard of such a thing. I would never vax her just to go to school and am happy to homeschool her, but am just sad that she will miss this experience-she was pretty excited about it. I also didnt want to creat too much a a stink since I actually am involved with the owners at "my" school, but Id love some great response to just get them to "think" . Maybe a simple letter --not to passive aggressive-but something that makes a point. ALso, just venting at being disappointed since so many of my friends are not non-vaxers and are hardly sympathetic.

Funny! I always though Montessori was a bit like a Waldorf school with a more anthroposophic life style philosophy. Too bad it's not.
actually our montessori in the states gave us no trouble...I think its that we are overseas and they can't imagine not vaxing. One of the moms here said, "keep your kids so healthy by vaxing!" pretty scary. I think I'm just sad about her not going to the Montessori school and I need to get excited about hs'ing! I'll head over to that forum ( smile). I tell ya, I'm feeling VERY isolated over here!!

I think the biggest thing against you is being in a middle eastern country....new zealand and aussie are more leniant.
It may have to do with the law in your country, which one is it exactly, and maybe LI or someone else will know the laws in that country

ok. I have started writing my letter. I dont want to offend these ladies because I think its an education issue and I really like them but I want to point out that the US has some of the strictest vax laws in the world nad that as their school grows this is an issue they will want to reconsider-Im not the only one not vaxing . Also I heard their concern ws for the health of the vaxed kids....like my dd is some disease carrying freak because she is not vaxed. any help with verbage appreciated!

Well, if the vaxed kids are "protected" from the VPDs, then how exactly do the non-vaxed kids pose any kind of threat? The non-vaxed kids are only a "threat" to themselves- and if they get sick they won't be at school anyway, right?
