I am totally like that too!!! Moday is my crazy tornado cleaning day. I work on the weekends, and I just can't deal with coming home and cleaning up after work. The sad thing is, my mom watches the kids and she's so scatterbrained she makes a huge mess!!! It's a very sore spot for us, but I figure she is watching my kids so I can't really say much.

So, I'm way behind...dd had minor sugery yesterday so of course my focus has been on her. I did manage to pry her off my boob for a couple minutes and get the floors mopped, laundry going, kitchen wiped down and a quick pick up through the house, so I feel a little better.

Now that everything is fairly clean and organized on a regular basis it doesn't take me too long to pick up.

Seriously. I pick up my house like twice a day. If I didn't I'd go crazy. : And I clean out the fridge and my purse at least once a week. And there is not nearly enough vacuuming on the MM list. And I have to do a hobby (internet or book) every day or I go mad. And I put the handtowels in the laundry every day.

Am I a freak?
Delta, sounds like you are organized and your house is probably clean. Sounds like you don't need the MM list!

I'm the same. We had the weekend, then I slacked on Mon, then Tue we were all home because of snow. Today I'm trying to catch up.

Hi all,

Things are plodding along, I'm doing more around the house than I was before MM's. But my big accomplishment was cleaning out all 4 drawers in my kitchen. It only took around 30 mins, but I've been putting it off for months.
They look so nice! A small happy thing

Hi all! I'm totally digging MM still. It's been two weeks for me now, and although I almost never get everything done on any given day, it gives me small managable goals to strive for, whenever DS allows me a spare 5 minutes. But it's so nice to have clean things! Everytime I open my clean microwave, I smile. Everytime I see my clean bathroom sink, I sigh contentedly. And I mopped my kitchen floor again! That's the 3rd time in two years (two of those times in the last two weeks). Whee!

Ummm, things were going good at the beginning of the week... I seem to be running out of steam. Anyone else? Maybe I should get off my as# and do some housework!

I'm with you, pbandj -- slacking off big time! I need to get back on the stick.

So I have a little problem... my hands are terribly dry and I have a whole bunch of little cracks! Wah! My hands are in and out of water all day long. I think the constant upkeep of the kitchen/dishes is what did them in. I used to do dishes only twice a day, now I try to clean them as they're used. I guess I'll try using gloves and consolidating dish duty. Blech.

So how is the MM's doing this week? I am trying to do more on my list as I am feeling better since my recent c-section. I hope by next week I will be able to do ALL task on my list and i am actually looking forward to it.

SO far I think the list is keeping me going well. I really like the simple break down for each day and I think it helps ME keep on track. Even hubby seems to like it so far and even helps out too!

My hands get really dry in the winter, whether I have them in water a lot or not. If I'm doing a lot of extra cleaning it makes them even worse. When they get really dry and painful, after I wash my hands when I use the bathroom, I put on a little exfoliant, rub it in, rinse it off, and put on some lotion. After a couple days my hands are as good as new, and I can stop doing the treatment if I want, or just do it once a day. It makes a really big difference.

MM is going *wonderfully* this week. Last week I was in the cleaning duldrums, and posted about it here. Someone suggested that I modify the MM schedule slightly to suit my own needs. It was a lot easier than I thought. I did it in Excel, and took out all the things that didn't apply to me, then added things that I really need to get done. I am back on track now. I am spending more time with the kids (I added to my MM list, so I never get so caught up in other stuff that I forget to have fun with them ), I got rid of two giant trash bags of toys plus four big things that I freecycled, and while the house isn't perfect, it's pretty much company-worthy. I'm feeling really good about myself today.

Things are going really well, here! My two year old has been very helpful lately - she likes to wipe up messes, "sweeps" the floor, lets me chase her with the vacuum...

WHOA!! How are you even thinking of cleaning 10 days postpartum?!? : Please take it easy and give yourself time to heal! A friend of mine has had adhesion pain since her c-section almost three years ago and she blames it on vacuuming too soon. Not that I can really talk, since I hosted Thanksgiving less than a week after my c/s. I made up for it by not doing housework for a couple of months after my VBAC, though.

Congratulations on your new babe!

Cool! Were you able to transfer all of the stuff right over from the pdf or did you start new?

Isn't that the BEST? I love that I could have people over at anytime and not have to stress about tidying up first.

When I downloaded the program it was on another computer, so I didn't even think to try and transfer it. I just started from scratch in Excel and it was much easier than I thought it'd be. Today my chores were:

_ Make beds (what's the point, the kids just mess it up right away )
X Plan/cook dinner
X Wipe out bathroom sink
X Do laundry
X Read to children
_ Exercise (I'm going that later when the kids are asleep)
X Quiet time
X Take vitamins
X Prepare tomorrow's clothing
_ Homework (I don't have any this week because I finished early)
X 5-minute declutter in each room
X Play with kids
X Revise Motivated Moms (I did that so I didn't have to do the entire year in one day...whenever I get a chance I do 4-5 weeks' worth).

Then my chores for the 23rd were:
X Sort/declutter/organize one floor-to-ceiling bookshelf
X Clean all mirrors
X Clean out purse
_ MOPS (cancelled for weather)
X Bathe DC#2 (I have three kids, and I bathe one of them each day...any more frequently, and their skin gets really dried out and rashy. This way I always remember who gets bathed on what day )

Okay, I know you didn't ask for all that, but I'm really excited about all those Xs today!!!

Yes!!! I might have someone coming over this weekend, and it'll be nice to know that on Friday night, I won't be scrambling to hide the clutter in the guest room. There are some toys out, and the baby is currently sitting on the floor playing with them, and the end tables have clutter on top. Other than that it's looking pretty good up here!

I started reading a book about home executives, a precursor to Flylady -- anyway, the big thing I got out of it is to NEVER step over something on the floor! I've taken this to heart (such a simple thing) and things are looking better. We are also moving furniture around and have moved all the toys out of the main living room and into a bedroom that is also on the ground floor -- it has, of course, made a HUGE difference.

I'm also making the MM planner more my own, writing things on there that I want to get done that day. I freecycled a little desk that ds1 never uses today -- I love giving stuff away, esp. when the person pulls into the driveway to haul it away

I love Sidetracked Home Executives! My mom used that system when I was growing up.

My motto when I'm walking through the house is "no step is wasted." If I am on my way downstairs, and I see a mug sitting on the end table, it goes with me. On my way back up, if there's a book on the table, it goes with me so I can put it on the bookshelf. And if there's something on the bookshelf that doesn't go there, I put that away, too. It's a really good way for me to clean when I want to make a "sprint" of it...if I only have 10-15 minutes, that's what I do, as fast as I can.

This simple statement has totally blown my mind! I've been thinking about it since I read it a few days ago.

But with a toddler and an infant, I'm not even going to try it! I'm going to hold on to the idea... keep it on the back burner, so to speak.

I've started keeping a basket in the living room into which I toss the toys a few times a day. At the end of the day, I put them back where they belong. From time to time, DD will put her toys back in her toy box, too.

All right, tomorrow starts a new MM week. Every week, I've only managed to get 1/4 of it done and then I'm cleaning like mad before people come over. I'm aiming for 1/2 the list.

I got thrown off track this morning (not with MM, just with general schedule) b/c dh is out of town and the family I share a sitter with has a sick dd. We ended up splitting the day, so the sitter was there in the morning and is at my house for the afternoon so I can get a little office time. Then dd took an early nap...

and I went in to clean the toilet. Got on a roll and cleaned the shower and the bathroom floor too! Literally I just finished and the sitter knocked on the door. Perfect timing! I can't sort the harddrive like it says for today b/c dh has the laptop with him on his trip, so I figure I did the shower today and can do the files when he gets back. I could sort through the work computer today, but since I'm just a freelancer here and it's a short day for me, I think I'll skip it.
