Help me out here...

My friends daughter had a horrible reaction to the MMR. I believe it was from the Vax as my now 6 yo had the SAME reaction to it when he was 18 mos old. I then thought it was a reaction to the egg in the vax, but he eats eggs now without any proble. Hence the reason I researched this forum and other places and have stopped vaxing. Anyway.. She refuses to believe it was caused from the Vax because her Dr assured her that it was just a Virus.. blah blah.. funny how neither her nor her DH got the "virus" : Aren't MMR all viruses?? And live, at that?? Anyway, She was trying to convince ME that it's ok to vax. umm ok, she's got a 2 yo and I've got a 10yo.. who's been doing this longer? AND she has not done ANY research into it. She was appalled that there was aborted fetal tissue AND thimerasol in the MMR and DTaP (I believe) yet still got the shot for her dd. I tried to give her the info on them before getting them but she believes EVERYTHING her Dr tells her. The nurses told her that there were 3 types of the MMR. The regular one, the one without thimerasol and the one without egg. OK, I have NEVER heard or read of one being without egg. It states on the package insert that the Measles and Rubella are both harvested in egg. So, I'm thinking that she asked the nurse about my son possibly having a reaction to the egg and they fed her a bunch of bull.. Am I right? Arm me with info!!

There are some people that want to believe what they want to believe, regardless of what's put in front of them to the contrary. So, I'd just let her do what she's going to do.

MMR does not contain thimerisol and never has. The thimerisol would kill the live viruses. It does, however, contain aluminum (as do all vaxes), which should be of concern.

I'd be careful of the "I've been doing this longer and, therefore, know more & better than you" argument. It invites someone to push their agenda on you because they have 5 kids in their 20's who are all vaxed and "they're all fine".

Thank you for the info and reminder. I probibly should have worded that differently, I meant that I've done more research on it. I know I don't know it all.

MMR doesn't contain Thimerosal? So only DT, Influenza and Meningococcal contain it??

If anything.. this has made me continue my education on Vax.

MMR - yes (specifically, rubella)
DTaP - no

Here's a comprehensive list of vaccines made with aborted fetal cell lines, and how those cell lines were procured.
