Jett's speech is hard to describe. He's VERY communicative, but not with sentences. He has an interesting mix of 'signs' (not baby signs or ASL, just Jett-Signs) and words to get his point across.
His spoken words probably number around 100. (?? higher/lower ??) He understands way more than I could place a number on. He says a lot of things that I'm not sure about, like last night, he may have been saying "I know!" over and over, but I'm not sure. I said, "How did all of your clothes get spread around the bedroom" to DH, knowing Jett had done it. He said, "I don't know." and Jett runs around yelling, "Ah no!" "Ah no!" Not sure...if so, that's the first time he used 'I'.

Mostly he sentences are "read book" (weed book) "play trains" (bay tanes) "Daddy work" (daddy wok) and "Mama up" (mama uppy) and things like that. He's also in the narrative stage. As we drive along, he states things like up, down, over, around, as we navigate hills, bridges, etc. Desiring food/drink consists of "eat" or "ungry" or "dink". Too heavy? "Evby!"

Tractor? "Tack-Oh"
Thomas? "Tommy"
Fire truck? "Bire" or Bye-Oh" (sometimes with 'tuck' after)
Recycling? "Syke-Oh"
Shoes? "Zoos"

Question for you mamas...

Our toilet seat just broke, so I need to get a new one.

Would you get a new seat that's normal and get a potty seat insert like this for the seat or would you get
an all-in-one type deal. Seems like the AIO might be more user-friendly, but eh..I don't know.

Wow Jaclyn, that 2nd one looks really cool & convenient! I'd go that route for sure. We have the little ring that goes on the toilet & finding the drips in random spots (plus the inevitable mess wherever you set it down regularly) is irritating, to say the least. Still better than having to empty a seperate potty, though...

The no juice thing is actually going pretty well. I have been letting him have cow and/or rice milk, but I'm not too worried about that. He ate better today and yesterday, and didn't have a huge screeching fit in the middle of the night when all that was forthcoming was a 1/2 cup of rice milk, so that's good.

We'll see how it goes as I make sure to keep the milk to a minimum -- I don't want him to just transfer over to that instead of food! At least it's less sugar, though.

I'd say Charlie is almost exactly where Jett is with speech, including the unique Charlie signs--cocking his head to the side indicates someone going to bed, doing a little mashed potato dance means, "I'm swallowing the water in my mouth".

I so covet your LIKEaBIKE! I trade-off watching toddlers with a friend of mine who has one. Her 4 year old just handed it off to the 2 year old. They just love it. The 4 year old ruined a couple nice pairs of shoes from braking during normal riding, so that might be something to watch out for.

Me too, thanks. We went to target for medicine and a new backpack for his sister and I asked him if he felt bad. He said, Yes, I sick. I said, I bought you some medicine?! Cole- mecine? Yuk. With a matching yuk look on his face.

He's already nursed and is sleeping in our bed. He ate a TON of orange chicken for dinner and took a triaminic strip thingy. He's having trouble pooping but it's weird, when he finally does, it's not hard at all. It's just normal baby poo. We went to the chiro today to help with that. I hope it does.

Owen has, probably 150-200 spoken words--but he doesn't talk that often. He is finally starting to babble when he plays, but he rarely speaks--probably 60 words a day. He is starting putting 2 words together, so that is exciting.

He is making such gains since starting the enzyme replacement therapy. He had his 5th infusion yesterday and all went well. We have PT later today and she has been seeing such great things with him as well.

Oh, and if any of you are able, we met a family down at Duke when we were down for pretesting. Their son, Andrew, was born 12/3/04 and he also has Hunter's. They are currently at Duke and have just started the chemo necessary for transplant. I feel very close to these people, especially as we were supposed to start transplant in January as well. I'm hoping you all could sign his guestbook and just let his parents, Janeen and Joe, know that you are thinking of their son.

Shauna, thanks for the link!! I like that one better too, it definitely looks a bit nicer and more quality. Only troubles are, I just ordered the Target one about 1/2 hour ago, oak doesn't fit our bathroom colors (lol) and the One Step Ahead white version is back-ordered.

I like that wooden seat! but we have those weird shaped toilet seats that are so hard to fit a cover on. We just use the insert and have a little potty also. We also keep one in the car once he gets serious for those emergency stops on the side of the road. Maybe by spring we can work on potty training.

Niko doesn't have a whole lot of words but gets the point across. He doesn't put any together at all and at last friday's Dr appt the Dr was concerned, I made the mistake of answering the question about verbilization kinda conservatively. Now he wants to see Niko in three months. I think in a month if he is improving, I'll call to talk to the Dr. I hate taking him in for no other reason than to talk....

Amy, it sounds like Owen is doing great, I am so happy to hear how much the enzyme therapy is working out so well.
