..and I'm laughing at the idea that I ever found the home visit intimidating!
Honestly--I've given friends a more in-depth tour of our house! The social worker just glanced around, wanted to talk about fun stuff like the history of our home and home improvement projects, and actually seemed alarmed at how clean everything was. SW: "Is it always this clean??" Dh says "Oh, no. We clean it up like this about once a month." I'm not sure to feel this way
or this way
: about that statement.
She didn't even ask what we'd be doing about sleeping arrangements, bedrooms, or where the fire extinguishers are!
I've actually really enjoyed the homestudy process...it's been great to talk about our family with someone else (nothing like explaining your family to a complete stranger to put things in perspective!). The best part has been all the talk about our little girl-to-be...sitting down with someone and talking for hours, even if it's about unpleasant maybe-could-happens, has been enlightening and has made me feel so close to her.
Anyway...the homestudy is almost officially over! All we need is our SW's written report, and then we can step in line and start the wait. Our agency says we should expect to get a referral about 6 or 7 month from now, to a baby girl probably born in the first few months of this year. We should be able to bring her home in early 08 from Korea!
I know there are trials ahead, but so far this has all be great. For a little while, I think I'm just going to sit and linger in this glow of happy expectations (!)
