I'd also be really interested to read your enki "schedule" for the week (i.e. what songs, circle activities, stories, crafts etc you're choosing); I've been doing kindergarten for 3 months now but it would be nice to get some ideas from others. Feel free to PM me if you want. Thanks~and now I need to get to my weekly planning!
Here is what I have planned. This week I have a main circle time in the morning associated with some form of exercise. I also have 2 small circle/movement times planned - one following quiet/nap time and one during our "Settling In" time before dinner. All songs/verses/fingerplays are Enki unless noted SJ, which is from AnnetteMarie's Season's of Joy. So, this is what it looks like:
*Morning Exercise/Circle time: Winter Gathering Song (SJ), Sally Go Round the Sun (pg. 35), Gnomes (pg. 99), Winter (pg. 131), Star Fairies (pg. 129), Winter Circle Closing Song (SJ).
Mon - Wed: Folk or Fairy Tale. This week is The Bojabi Tree. (We also are fond still of The 3 Billy Goats Gruff from before Christmas, so we might revisit it during the week too. I'm also going to purchase it as a picture book now.)
Thurs & Fri: Nature Story. This week is A Busy Sleep. (And more than likely will revisit The Holly and the Evergreen as that was another big hit here.)
*Free Play/Lunch/Quiet Time.
*Post-Quiet time: Walking in the Snow (SJ), King Winter (pg. 48), Five Little Snowmen (SJ).
*"Adventure Time": Baking, Painting (we are still exploring wet-on-wet and really enjoy it), Coloring w/beeswax crayons, park day, errands.
*Settling In time (fingerplays): Waters (pg. 149), Popcorn (pg. 172), Here is a Cave (SJ).
*Dinner/Bed Prep/Family Time.
We haven't really ever done family meetings with the boys yet, though off and on dh and I have done them together. But, our oldest is 5 1/2 and is becoming such an involved member of the family (not that the others aren't, but his ability to communicate and plan together is growing by leaps and bounds), that I thought it would be a nice transition into the new week. It will probably be pretty brief - just a chance to talk about the week ahead. We have a "white board" hung in the living room where I typically keep a 1 week or 2 week grid up, so we will probably use this time to fill in the different things that are happening (park day, dinner with grandma, etc). Then we will sing together. That part is pretty foreign to dh and I, though I love music and typically have something playing in the background, so I think it will go well. And I get all warm and fuzzy thinking of years in the future and fond memories by the kids of gathering together to sing, talk about our lives, and probably end with reading books and cuddling. If you want I can share the songs I picked too.
