curious about something

We are planning to pursue adoption in the next couple of years. Two weeks ago we had an incident where someone called cps on us. We believe that is was dh's ex being vindictive (long story) We have cooperated and are very confident that nothing will come of this. The only "problem" the sw could find in my home on his un announced visit was that we don't have a baby gate at the top of our stairs. Will this affect our ability to adopt in the future?

If the case is closed, and the allegations determined to be unfounded, I am betting it will be little more than a hicup in your process.

I just bought baby gates for our house and they say to never use them at the top of the stairs! Maybe you can mention that to the social worker

We put ours at the top of the stairs anyway, but just thought I'd let ya know.
I would think it wont be a problem with your adoption.

there are different kinds that are made to be able to be used at the top of stairs. the pressure mounted ones could come undone and it would be quite scarey (probably more dangerous than nothing at all). we have a gate at the entrance to the hallway to the top of the stairs.

It's the craziest thing, the gate we have is not one of those pressure mounted one. It is a evenflo swing gate.
