I'm having a bad Mindful Home Management day

I'm having a bad day. Usually I keep up on the house, toys are picked up, things like bathroom and floors are clean. Today I just gave up. Kids are all home on christmas vacation and they have destroyed the house. I just can't keep up. They have cut up a million small scraps of paper that are now spread all over the house. I tried to wash sheets today and after all sheet where washed and soaking wet I found out the the dryer is not working so all the sheets are hanging all over the house. The floor needs to be mopped toys are everywhere and I never even made my bed today. The sink is full of dirty dishes, I have about four loads of laundry that needs to be washed and now hung up all over the house to dry, I could go on and on but I'll stop with the pitty party. I'm leaving to goto work for a few hours maybe DH will do some cleaning while I'm gone (not likely).

I'm sure everyone has days like this.

If it makes you feel better my DH just freaked out at me because I have about 3 loads of laundry that need to be ironed, sorted etc just sitting on the floor... and I have probably another 2 loads of laundry that need to be washed ASAP but I just haven't been able to get around to it...and we had cereal and cheese and crackers for dinner.

I feel your pain mama!

Dude. This is me every day. And I only have one kid! Of course, she's 2 so I can't make her vaccum, but if you have kids who are home on break, they can throw in a load of clothes.

Oh, I can make you feel so much better!! My house *smelled* last night! That's how out of control I let it get. We had spent the night at my mom's without cleaning before we left, and I came home and thought, "My house stinks!" That's what leaving dirty dishes out for two days and garbanzo beans in the trash can will do.

We cleaned really well right before Christmas, then just sat back and enjoyed our holidays. I have at least six loads of laundry to do. The entire house is filthy. We're behind on the dishes by one load, but I should be able to get those caught up in the morning.

It's bad. Worse than ever. You're doing great compared to me!!

Yep, I cleaned really really well right before Christmas, I think I burnt myself out. We are also completely out of food so I have to go shopping today, which means a hour drive there and back plus shopping at 2 stores so not much cleaning will happen today either. Maybe I'll just not clean until Monday when the two older kids are back to school.

You should drop your kids off at my house tommorow then go home and relax, pick up, whatever. God knows I owe you! So Friday- if you still feel swamped- I can scrub toilets, sweep, wash dishes, dust- whatever you want! Let me know if you need help!

That's exactly how I've been feeling! It will take me a month to dig out of the Xmas mess. I have piles of stuff to return/exchange (kids clothes for the most part); some stuff to donate or make a regifting "cabinet", boxes of decorations to finish packing and put back in the attic (but first I need to go buy packing tape!), ridiculous amounts of food gifts piled in the kitchen that I can't figure out how to organize, and I really REALLY need to work on purging toys with the boys. I started on baby books yesterday. Why do we still have a shelf of them???? Managed to relegate a toy digger to the backyard. Pitiful.

And I have relatives coming in the morning on their way to the airport. I am so embarrassed. Dh has beer brewing (in a carboy!) in the hall bathtub (grrrr.....another story), and I'm hoping I can vacuum and dust to make it at least seem neat in here! I have lots of munchies I can offer!
