Is this Teflon?

I'm trying to go Teflon free. These don't really say, but they have that look:

Thanks!

It's not Teflon, but it's probably some other kind of treatment for non-stick. The only non-treated stuff is stainless steel, aluminum, and cast iron. Aluminum is questionable and doesn't last long.

I worked for kitchenaid and I love their products. I don't know what the pan's coating is though. Again, I'm assuming it's another coating type.

For example from your link (stir fry pan):

Classic navy blue porcelain exterior
Nonstick interior is a patented hard-base ceramic nonstick system, a three coat process, that provides exceptional food release and durability
Thick aluminum core provides fast, even heating along the bottom of the pan
Handles are 18/10 stainless steel encased in soft silicone rubber
Tough porcelain enamel exterior is durable and easy to clean
Hand Wash Only

I agree it's probably some Teflon-like coating.

Plus it's hand wash only! Yuck!

Cast iron is handwash only too

The only dishwasher safe, teflon-free solution is stainless steel. The good kind is 18-10 ratio steel.

Hmm. . "hard base ceramic nonstick system" what does that mean? It did look like it was coated.

BTW, in my first day Teflon free, I made scrambled eggs on my newly seasoned cast iron, and not a bit of sticking! So far so good.

The outside is ceramic, meaning it has a glazed outside that doesn't scorch. It's mainly protective and decorative. You see a lot of colored enamel in reds, blues, and greens nowadays.

We have enameled cast iron (Le Creuset), and it's dishwasher safe.

I used some of those very kitchenaid pans before getting my Le Creuset. Unfortunately, we scratched the heck out of those pans even while being reasonably mindful not to. They lasted me all of two years. Maybe I had a bunk batch though.

Well, I guess if they can be scratched, then they are coated with something. I guess I'll go for the stainless steel pots. The cast iron pans were cheap at Ross, but all the pans were very small. Looks like it's going to cost a bit to replace our pans with something non-Teflon.

Flor, yes, I think it will cost a bit. We saved up for it for a few months so we could replace everything. The good thing is if you get something really durable, it will last a long time! The cast iron we got has a lifetime guarantee!
