The ones I know are:
WHO
Health Canada
American Assoc. of Family Practitioners

I'm sure there are more, especially in other countries.

Thanks, ladies (and any gentlemen)!

I think that the Australian College of Pediatrics also recommends it as well.

I believe they are actually called the American Academy of Family Physicians. Check here to see if more groups recommend it.

The link I gave above mentions two Australian groups and their recommendations.

I like to joke and say it's the only the the World Health Organization, Pope John Paul II, and a former surgeon general of the United States will ever agree on.

If you read the link they say a child under age two who is weaned is at increased risk of illness.

Good to know! I didn't know anything about the 2 yr. mark. I feel a little now. DD only nursed till, oh, well, I guess 22 mos. Not bad! But I still feel bad for weaning. I was pg and at the time thought it was a good idea I really miss the closeness we shared.

huskermommy I think 22 months is awesome and weaning while pg is totally understandable! But I understand the feelings of grief. You did good mama!
