Would you alter any of your maternity clothes for non-maternity wear later?

I was thinking about this earlier. I have maybe 5 maternity items that were fairly pricey and very nice. Most of what I'm talking about is summer stuff, last time it was October when the baby came. One of the things I'm thinking of is a maternity tankini. All I'd have to do is take in the sides and lower the front of the bottom piece and it would look like any other tankini. Also, a catalog came in the mail today with children's wear in it and there is a girl's one piece in it in the exact same print. My daughter would think it was very cool to have the same patterned swimsuit as mom. I have a sundress that would be easily altered too.

So, would you wear any of your maternity stuff (altered) as non-maternity? I wouldn't wear all of it again, but if I altered a few select pieces I'd still wear them.

I have a sweater that I wish could be altered for non-maternity, as well as a pair of pants. Not sure how either would be done, though.

I have a couple of pairs of maternity overalls that I'd consider altering for non-maternity wear, but I'm going to have to think about how to go about it.

I can always use another pair of overalls, especially since the non-maternity ones I have are on their last legs.

I was just talking with a friend about whether or not I EVER want to see the last remaining sweater that fits me again. It was made especially for me, and I love it, it has a bird on a branch embroidered on the front of the tummy...the woman who made it promised to alter it after-birth so that I could ostensibly prolong its life. I've been wearing it every single day practically for weeks.

Tweet tweet!

I saw a picture of myself today, 2 weeks before I got pregnant, and I mournfully thought-- look, there's me in NORMAL clothes! I hope I can wear them again soon!!!!

Sure, I would, if I had anything worth the effort, which I really don't. most of it is hand-me-downs and not nice enough. I'd definitely do it if you have things you would like to be able to keep wearing! The tankini idea sounds awesome, your DD would absolutely love that I am sure!

Nope I wouldn't alter anything I can't wait to get rid of my clothes. I plan on selling them at the local consignment store and I will use the money to fund some great non mat clothes for myself.

I have some pieces that I'll probably continue to wear around the house such as strapy maternity tanks from Old Navy. They fit me well enough and are roomy in the belly to cover it as it shrinks. Otherwise, some things I'll sell and others I'll put into storage.

I do really like a lot of my maternity clothes (most of the ones I love no longer fit, but looked great for 3 or 4 months), but I think I'm going to keep them for now for the possibility of baby #3 and 4. But I think I would really like to pass them on to someone else when I am done having kids, because I have had so much baby gear, and baby and toddler clothes passed down to me that I feel the need to do the same when we are done having kids.

The tankini alteration does sound like fun, though, if you can work out how to do it.

No no no! I won't be sad if I never see any of my maternity clothes ever again! I have plenty of normal clothes I can't wait to wear again.
