Need help with IEP and Special Ed in MA (x-posted to tribal area)

I need some information on the laws about requesting testing from the school; what I can request and how often I can request testing. Also what can I do if the school is not following the IEP? Or if I think the IEP needs to be changed?

please email me at s.cheever@verizon.net I sometimes can't get on the boards for days

The IEP process is federally mandated, so while there may be minor differences in implementation state to state, all states must abide by the federal law. Here is one site that I hope will be helpful to you:

You can request testing every 3 years (that is already built into the law) unless there is a seriously compelling reason to test in between.

You can request an IEP meeting at any time to review it and to recommend changes. There are advocates available in most states if you find that the school is not accommodating your child's needs properly.
