"In an emergency, anything is a diaper"

So we're growing out of our NB prefolds (nicely decorated with flannel panels, sniff!) ... can I just sew them into a larger flannel "pocket" to make them bigger (kind of like just making them 2 inches larger on each edge) to keep using them? I've got like a metric tonne of flannel and might as well get some use out of it ...

sounds easy enough to me.

My problem was less that they didn't fit, and more that they weren't absorbant enough.

Go for it!

you could trifold them so the pretty side is facing out and use that as the middle of a larger prefold made out of the flannel you have... Or trifold them with something absorbant like microfleece in the middle and use them as a doubler... I suppose you could add a strip a couple inches wide to each end of the prefolds, but I 'm not sure it would be worth it in the long run.

Huh, just make them out of flannel rather than try to extend the life of my newborns? That's a thought ... and I do have some hemp bits that could be made into middles ...

Now to actually find time to sew!
