My 18mo DS nurses primarily at sleepy and stressful times. It's clearly very important to him, as it is to me. I'm 30 weeks PG and think that my milk supply probably dwindled away several weeks ago, but that hasn't dampened DS's interest in nursing. In fact, when I ask him if he's getting mommy milk, he responds in the affirmative. I actually think I may be getting some colostrum in now, but am not sure because he still doesn't seem to be swallowing.

At any rate, his latch is now terrible -- he usually just takes the nipple itself and very little of the aureola. It is not always uncomfortable/painful -- just usually! I often break his latch and ask him to "try again" and "open wide", but that's not very effective -- he just goes back to a similiar grip (often with teeth involved). : Given the times he's usually nursing (i.e. sleepy/stressful times), he's not really in the mood to work for his nursing, IYKWIM.

Any suggestions on how to fix his latch? I'm hoping to tandem nurse him and wee little babe upon its arrival. Do you think his latch will change once more milk is available?
