funny husband

(OK, my boys aren't circ'd but my husband was)

so I showed him the new Mothering issue last night, about babywearing, and then in passing I said, "...and there's soup recipes, and female genital mutilation..."

and he said, "well, what about MALE genital mutilation?" as in, "well? when is Mothering going to stand up against THAT?"

I laughed and promised him that Mothering mag was already plenty aware of that issue. I think he's just not used to anti-circ getting any respect

I don't get the magazine...
But what your hubby said was sweet.

There were a few anti-circ references here and there in this months issue. Enough to make a casual reader step back and realize it is something they should check out.

Anyone remotely interested in babywearing should check it out at the newstands.

ALSO, 2 articles by dads on homebirth. I hope my dh will read them.

Oh yeah, and OT, but finally a letter about Elimination Communication since the diaper edition hadn't bothered to even mention it (not even a whisper or a side note) as an option along with cloth.

Just had to mention all that because it made me super happy.

BTW, I will add the soup recipes sound AMAZING!

Mothering HAS done articles on male circumcision. This one was about female mutilation. It is ok to address one and not the other in any particular article. We all know that mothering takes a stand against all circumcision.

I do know that one of the authors of one article did mention that she would have circumcised for religious reasons. This was NOT the FGM article.

I'm always sad when I read that and then there is no subsequent message that not everyone does this or has to, but it was a different article and, well, really the reason it came up was to mention that circ. culture is changing, so that's in itself good to be mentioned.

I keep meaning to bring the mag up to the study so I can look up the sections and explain them better.

in case it wasn't clear, I know that, and the funny part was that my husband didn't. He thought he'd thought of something Mothering hadn't. But Mothering was probably publishing anti-circ articles since before he was born.
