Is there a thread about this book?

I'm reading it now and I feel like this:

I read the book and took a class at my church. Yes, there were times when I felt : . It's a book that I continue to pick up and read.... and re-read.... and re-read. It's wonderful.

I don't know if there is a particular thread started.... but I did come across the mentioning of the book in several threads posted about The Secret.

Keep reading and enjoy!

I don't think there is a thread abou this yet! And it is a great book, isn't it? I gave it to my mom as a gift. I use a couple of the exercises in the book a lot.

you know what was interesting i waited 3 months for that book from the library. and when i opened it i just could not get beyond the first few pages. i tried so hard. so hard. but it just would not appeal to me. so i ended up returning it as the library had too few copies and too many on hold.

but at the same time i was reading way of hte peaceful warrior by dan millman and carlos castaneda's Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan and for some reason they moved me more.

isnt it interesting how we react to different things at different points of our journey. i am kinda burnt out on the manifesting and right now on my journey i feel i need to change within. i am turning more inward than thinking about the future u know. and its amazing what it does to you.

millman's book taught me two things. one is to laugh - a point i had forgotten. and the other to really focus on my diet. and guess what? i am showing signs of perimenopause.

and castaneda's book taught me to be more grateful and deal with some morality issues i have had unsolved since my childhood. i had been a vegetarian (ethical reasons) for a while yet felt plants had to die to feed us. i loved the native american way (i hope i am right on this) of thanking plants for their sacrifice fo their life to help nourish me. that brougth me a lot of peace and cleared my ethical issues. he taught me prayer is not jsut at night or at meal time but a constant thing.

i hope i am not disrespecting ur thread by posting this. i just felt i needed to say my piece and couldnt find another place to put it.

i just wanted to say how i find it fascinating how all of our journeys are so differrent and how that affects what things appeal to us. what moves me is so different from what moves you.

I really like Ask and It is Given! I love the exercises.

In some of the LofA stuff, it comes across that you are supposed to be happy and feel good, and then everything will be OK, but it doesn't tell you how to get to the place of being happy and feelilng good. Ask and It is Given uses the analogy that if you gas tank is empty, you can't just slap a happy face sticker on it, you have to put gas in it, and then goes on to talk about how we need to change our vibration -- not just put a happy face on it. The exercises are about how to really change the way you feel, and I find some of them extremely powerful.

A couple of days a go I started working on my Book of Postive Aspects. It is so much fun to work on.

Why the : faces? I'm really having fun with this book.

Your tone is not at all disrespectful. Thanks for writing.

And thank you to others who write on this thread!

Because I'm still in the part where Esther describes her experiences with Abraham and even she admits it was a "weird" (her word) experience.

I am committed to reading the whole book which feels right to me, yet also weird.

I just got the daily cards from "Ask & It Is Given".

My kids and I pick a card every day. I like the little daily reminders to help keep me on track.

I think that reading the whole book is great, but I feel that it is OK to skip around. The second section is completely different. You might try reading a little from the first part, and a little from the second, and just go back and forth.

Cool! I got Awakening: A Daily Guide to Conscieous Living by Shakti Gawain. It's like a daily meditation book. I'm reading it to my kids each day. They are 8 and 10 and I really want them to grow up just knowing this stuff.

Do you like the cards? What are they like?

The cards are awesome and beautiful.

They are a little bigger than a playing card. They have an image on one side with a small statement then on the back is a more detailed explanation.

The card I picked today says....
"Why Does My Saying No to It Mean Saying Yes to It"

Then on the back it says....
"When you give attention to something you desire and say yes to it, you are including it in your vibration. But when you look at something you do not want and say no to it, you are including it in your vibration. You cannot exclude anything that you are giving your attention to."

If you go on to Hay House Radio....click on the products link for Esther & Jerry Hicks you can find them there. If you are a member (free sign-up) you can order them for about $12.00

And please note that I put more happy/love smileys than confused/negative ones.

Once I've read the whole thing I can do the whole take what you need and leave the rest.

I think threads started to talk about books and the like would likely be more appropriate in Books and Media- I'll double check with a mod. But if it is, I'll see if they can just move it straight over there for you so you don't lose any conversation.

oh- and I'm soooo wanting this book.....

Love this book! Oh, can't even say how much I love this book! The exercises are brilliant. (Skip to the second half and read that first. Really.) I love how the focus is on reaching for better than where you are, not for the major jumps. It's so hard to be really angry and move to joyful, but it is pretty manageable to go from really angry to discouraged, and from discouraged to disappointed, and disappointed to frustrated, and frustrated to hopeful, and hopeful to joyful! (Ah... I feel happy just writing that out!!)

I'll have to consider getting the cards! The daily quote email from their web site is lovely as well.

Hi Ambrose!

I replied about this over at the thread At Questions and Suggestions asking for a LOA forum, post number 143 on page 8. That thread is here:

Tracy I haven't been able to hear any of the Hay House recordings yet but I will! Minor technical difficulties....or a message from the Universe/Myself that I need to read and do other things right now...take your pick

I'm reading this right now. It is the first book about LOA I have read and I am blown away.
