I'm only 17 weeks, but my last baby was born at 41w 6 days with the help of castor oil. Not planning on going to 42 weeks, but why are some leery of cohoshes?

There are side effects like messing with your bp, and an overdose will look alot like nicotine posining. I knew someone who was having a hospital birth and induced with black and blue cohosh. They knew she did and tested the babies bm or urine (can't remember which) because it can have negative effects on the baby as well. And the test came back positive for MJ! And no she didn't have any of that!

I've used it as well, but it never did anything to me except give me tons of bloody show. It didn't start labor, no more dialation or effacement. Nothing.

My best birth was the one I was the most patient with. I really believe the body will go into labor when it's for the highest good. I choose not to mess with my baby's timing.

For this last birth I used the cohoshes to help induce labor. I started with the homeopathic versions but for some reason they didn't do much for me.

I then used an herbal labor tincture that included both of them (eewww, yucky) and it started my labor, albeit slowly.
