help! Trouble shooting washing machine?

Thread Starter
I need some help dx my washing machine "issue". I was happily washing a load. Not really paying attention. I noticed a "smell" but figured it was the squash casserole (I truly am an awful cook )
I figured it's been a while and the wash should be ready for the dryer.

Well, it had stopped mid-cycle, right before the first rinse. I can't get it to do anything in any of the cycle. Plus it smells "burnt".

What to do? I really wish it would have atleast drained:

Its sounds like something is stuck between the drum and outer drum making it not move which heated up the belt which in turn makes for the terrible burnt smell.

Been there done that. :

For me it was a sheetrock screw in somebodies pocket that locked up the drum.

A sock stuck somewhere?

In grad school, we paid lots of $ for a service man to come fix our washing machine. He pulled my roommate's sock out of it.

No spin and a burnt smell? I bet the belt went. You can find DIY repair instructions online. I think it's called a drive belt, but I could be wrong.
