You can just zigzag the edges or sew it inside out with a narrow seam allowance, leave an opening and turn it right side out. If it's a narrow soaker I would use a low pile fabric like flannel. If it's a trifold, you could use just about any type of fabric.

Thank you. I want to make it for a friend whose son is a super soaker. I use cd but she uses disposables and wants to just try an insert at night. I thought if I get some material (either bamboo or hemp/cotton jersey, etc) I would make her one to try out...Does that make sense? How many layers to you make them? I guess it depends on the material you use...
