Cleaning your indoor air

Just wondering if anyone else saw this Delicious Living article:
Quote:
Purify with plants. Houseplants can remove common chemicals from the air, such as formaldehyde, benzene, and carbon monoxide. Some plants actually thrive on them! Peace lilies, bamboo, palms, English ivy, mums, and gerbera daisies are among the top air-purifying types.
I guess I never thought of this before! We've been trying to slowly rid our house of particle board, but we'll still have our kitchen cabinets that probably offgas formaldehyde, so we were bummed about that. But there's room on top of the cabinets for plants so maybe we'll just line plants all along the top!

Have any of you mamas done research on this? I wonder if there's a particular plant that would be good for formaldehyde specifically.

This is a great article about a study NASA did on air quality and which plants clean what out of the air. I showed it to my boss a few weeks ago and he let me go and buy 16 plants of various types to put in our workspace. (He's so cool.) I'm trying to slowly bulk up the plants in our house too--I've got several huge pothos, but I just got a Boston fern and some English ivy to start helping too. The study also said that plants help raise the humidity in a room too, so that's an added bonus for your sinuses!

And snake plants.

Now that DS is old enough to know not to eat them, I really should get a few more.
