Talk to me about Kid Rock

I really love the Kid Rock / Cheryl Crow song that is our right now: Picture. ("I put your picture away, sat down and cried today...") And I think the video is very sweet. Dh is absolutely shocked that I like Kid Rock. But I never heard of him before and I know absolutely nothing about him. We had a conversation about him:

Dh: I can't believe someone like you likes Kid Rock
Me: Why? What's wrong with him?
Dh: He's just so...so...
Me: What?? So what??
Dh: Well, he's like Eminem (I loathe Eminem)
Me: Really? Is he violent? Or misogynistic? Or what?
Dh: No..its just...he's so...trashy
Me: meaning what?

Etc

I also think I inadvertently hurt dh's feelings when I told him, somewhat jokingly, that the song reminds me of him and me. Not that we cheat on each other. Or live in a hotel. Or are separated. BUT! when Sheryl Crow sings "I was off to church," and Kid Rock sings "I was off to drink you away!" that reminds me of how dh and I react to problems sometimes.

Anyway, I'm rambling! Do you have any thoughts on Kid Rock/ this song/ the video/ my dh?? Does he just have an illogical bug up his butt, LOL, or is there something I should know about Kid Rock?

well, on a visual level, he grosses me out. but as a person, and a father, . he has custody of his child and does a top notch job of taking care of him (i think it's a boy, but i could be wrong) and has talked about how important his child is to him.
sure, he's dating pam anderson, but i think she's the same way: kind of trashy on the outside but a sweet person and a loving mom.

anyway, that's my 2 cents.

I hate him, and I've only heard his songs in passing. I hate him because I assume he's misogynistic because of his videos and the commercials I've seen him do. (That beer commercial where the wife asks the husband to come home at a decent hour, or something, and he takes the guy out and doesn't bring him home until morning the next day after partying all night with scantily clad women!) Maybe I'm wrong, maybe his lyrics suggest otherwise and I'm missing something by not listening to his records. But I saw an interview with him that said that the reason he got into rock and roll is because of the women. I believe he said this AFTER he and Pam A. got together (poor Pam! I guess she's not enough woman for him )
JMO though, hope I didn't offend anyone!

pre-pam anderson he hung out with porn stars all the time, has a very macho image, had stripper-type dancers on stage. I hear the clean-up for MTV lyrics which are ok...I like him too. He is also a very excellent DJ before he became a rock star.

Pretty, much, a detroit working class good ole boy image.

+ Pam had two homebirths! That is amazing.

Now Sheryl Crow, she is someone I have a problem with. Lying Song Stealin' heartless out of tune singing wench!

My only promblem with Kid Rock is that his songs all have drinking a 40 in there somewhere or cheating on some girl or hanging out with sluts. I know it is an image and that is what he is selling and it does neccesarily mean it is who he really is, I just don't think his songs have any substance to them. I also do not like Sheryl Crow, I don't see the big deal about her either.JMO

hey, my babe is very fond of cheryl crow and madonna (any brown haired lady who kinda looks like mommy...) Very flattering to me, anyway. I can take or leave her. Babe likes Eve and Eminem too...but I've edited out certain ones...and we only see the MTV edits. The actual lyrics are a bit much for a toddler.

The funny thing is that I like Eminem and admire his honesty. I think he has substance and is real and raw. He might not sing of a life I know anything about and his opnions differ from mine but I think he has substance and is true.

I saw a tv special on Kid Rock once years ago and downloaded some of his songs off napster way back when. I thought he was cute and funny, and I like his voice. He definitely has a "rock star" image and maybe that lifestyle too, but he didn't seem dangerous or violent to me at all. I don't think he's been arrested or anything like that... just basically what other posters have said, that he likes to party. I imagine he'll calm down with that now that he's got kids though.
