I'm getting some Corelle dishes. They are lightweight, break resistant.

I love my corelle dishes. They last forever and they are glass. They are reasonably priced and they are sold at target, walmart.Good luck.

Another vote for corelle. I love mine and my grandmother has had her's for over 30 years. They are very affordable, they don't crack and chip, and they are super lightweight.

Corelle. I love it.

They will break, but are very break-resistant.

We use the bowls as refrigerator storage, with an appropriately-sized plate placed on top as the lid.

another vote for corelle. we started off with dh's moms corelle dishes (white with the gold pattern that everybody who saw them says their mom had too )

when we got new dishes we got the corelle hearthstone, which are heavier and not as break resistant- ive broke a couple already where with the old stuff, i dropped it and it bounced, lol. theyre still good, and i have dropped some without breaking, but it seems to break easier

i love my plain white corelle collection. it takes up such little room.

Another great thing about Corelle is that most of their products are made in the US by union workers. We don't see that too often anymore.

I am going to go against the grain only because I know very little of Corelle. I like Ikea's Dinera series. They are not too heavy, very simple design. Food looks really nice on the beigy/sage color. My dh and I just bought this set for my inlaws for Christmas.

Thanks while I like the Corelle for being light I have to say so far I am not to keen on there design choices, so I 'll check out Ikea's Dinera series.

We have Corelle and love it. Its great for when the kids help clear off the table and they cant reach into the sink so thus they drop the dishes :

In over 6 years of having Corelle we have only broken 2.

We also use the bowls for food storage. We love the really deep cereal ones

I am always keeping a look out for more at thrift shops.
