what's your favorite washing machine?

It looks like I'm going to have to buy a new washing machine. My current one is 7.5 yrs old and making a burning smell and I've taken it apart and nothing jumps out saying "fix me"

So does anyone have a brand they recommend?
We bought a LG front loader (wm1812cw) but it can't be delivered till next week. So I have some time to back out .
I read some bad rewiews online. (mildew issues, water not getting warm, breaking down often)
TIA

I love my washer!

I have a Maytag top-loader HE machine. It is so easy to use! I dump all the clothes in from the top, which is easier than pulling clothes out of the basket and shoving them into the washer. Because the Maytag HE doesn't have the middle agitator to rotate the clothes (it has these spinning disks on the sides instead) I don't need to work the clothes in around the agitator. Just dump the clothes in, put in the detergent, and hit start.

Because it is a top-loader, it is possible to still add more clothes, but it has a locking mechanism so you have to wait for it to unlock before you can add more. Waiting can be sometimes as long as 30 seconds. It removes the water before it unlocks so that it's not a drowning hazard or something. Anyway, waiting for it to unlock can be a pain.

Being able to get a load started so quickly is definitely a plus for me - our washer is in the basement, and I leave the kids (2.5 and 1 yrs) unattended while I get it started. I'm glad to not leave them for long.

I have the LG front loader. I like it....except for the fact that it gets icky around the rubber seal where the door closes...but I think ALL front loaders have that problem. I need to scrub mine with a toothbrush or something. I do find it hard to get the diapers smelling fresh as well, but I never had another washer to compare to...I find myself using bleach quite often just to get the smell to go away. :

I'll have to check the reviews because I have never read them. We got it when it first came out. I have never had mine break down.
