2 y/o who could use potty, but chooses not to most of the time, and also refuses to keep on a nappy for more than three minutes ("I'll use potty tomorrow, Mummy. Today I pee-pee on da floor instead."
)
Another two who get too engrossed in what they're doing and so have fairly regular oopsies.
A puppy who thank goodness never peed on the bed (not allowed in the bedroom) and has thankfully now potty trained. I wish kids were as easy as puppies.......
When it's not pee, it's mud from the garden, squashed banana from goodness-knows-where, spilled smoothie, or some indistinguishable substance that requires mopping, wiping or vacuuming. Pretty much on an hourly basis......

Maybe I shouldn't answer.
:Wash your sheets? Ugh, every 3 months? Mop? Never, but I swiffer maybe once a month Clean the bathroom? Probably about once every two months Grocery shop? Every other week Dust? What is this? Wash your favorite pair of jeans? Once a week to once every two weeks. And I've been so proud of myself on how well I'v ebeen doing at housekeeping lately (been able to actually keep the place semi picked up and not let laundry pile up so bad we have no underwear) but clearly I have a long way to go. |
I could've written your post 2 years ago (like my oven, we've owned it for about 9 months and last night this thread got me motivated to clean it. Ummm had to go over it 4 times and was pulling black sludge off the bottom

Nope not at all. My cleaning has really only picked up since the twins got old enough to not need me every 2 seconds of the day. Enjoy your time as a mummy while you can and worry about the cleaning later on

OK I feel really stupid and bad saying this but what do you clean the oven with and how? We have lived here almost 4 years and I've never cleaned it??? This is our first home and I really never had to do much when I was living at home (my mom WANTED to do it all) so I am still learning! My DH did put it on self clean once a while back, does that work the same?

Wash your sheets?
weekly, usually sooner though as ds has been wetting the bed
Mop?
at least weekly
Clean the bathroom?
deep clean, top to bottom weekly, I keep everything in it's place, counter and sink wiped daily
Grocery shop?
every week
Dust?
every week to 10 days
Wash your favorite pair of jeans?
every few wears- usually I just wear them out somewhere for a few hours, when they get noticeable dirty, or they are feeling out of shape

Sorry, you sound just like I used to!!! I once lived in a house for 3 years and the only time I cleaned the oven was when we moved out
:It's up to you. You can buy caustic cleaners (however given that this is Natural family living NOT advised!!lol). I use an Aussie brand of non caustic cleaner called Cinderella however I think you can buy like Orange Power and stuff at the supermarket. It's environmentally friendly and you don't usually need to worry too much about it being too poisonous. I also sometimes use baking soda and water or if it's really bad baking soda and vinegar. I make a paste out of it and leave it on overnight then scrub off in the morning with a scourer (use a plastic one though, steel wool will scratch). It does require a bit of elbow grease though and if it's as bad as mine is at the moment you might need to give it a couple of goes

As for self clean I have no idea that even existed (thinking now I'll have to get me one of these!?!?!) so might have to let someone else answer that one.

As for the yuck I know, I have a yuck confession. The oven, I LOATHE cleaning the oven so it tends to get left, and left and left and really only done when I can SEE that it is grotty
Lol, anyone else have any yucks that they hate to do? Oh I also confess no one should ever look behind my fridge or washing machine. Other than that pretty clean round here. |
: I haven't cleaned mine in the 3 months I've lived in this house and I use it everynight. I really really hate doing it. Eventually my fiancee gets to it lol.

Wash your sheets? Fortnightly. I was going to wash them weekly, but this upset my DH enormously (laundry is a bit expensive) and I inquired among friends and decided once every two weeks would be fine.
We only have one set of sheets. I wash & dry it, then put it back on that same day.
Mop? The idea is that I do this weekly, unless the floor is looking especially clean. The reality is that I haven't worked this into my routine yet.
Clean the bathroom? Once a week, and in theory I do a mini-clean another time during the week.
Grocery shop? Every few days, usually just getting a few things.
Dust? Once a week.
Wash your favorite pair of jeans? Corderoys (sp) in my case... whenever they're looking dusty or have a spill of any kind. Not too often, because frequent wearing & washing will wear them out faster.

Wash your sheets?: Monthly at best, or when peed on
Mop: every other month. Spot clean as needed.
Clean the bathroom: monthly
Grocery shop: weekly on Saturday. DH does it.
Dust: maybe 2x a year....
Wash your favorite pair of jeans: whenever I see visible dirt. At least 5-6 wearings.
oven cleaning: self-clean every 3-4 years.
wash out garbage cans and clean camping equipment: every other year.

Wash Sheets: About once a month (I know!)
Mop: Mostly spot mop when it needs it but a big mop before company comes over LOL - I hate mopping! Clean the bathrooms: Well the one for company I do often like once a week but our bathroom is more like once a month, it doesn't really get dirty though. Grocery Shop: Every Monday and that's it. Wash Jeans: Well I take as long as possible before I do laundry because I hate it so I wear them 3 or 4 times probably before washing, unless they get yuck-o. Vacuum: Every 2 to 3 days. Yucks: The sheets, I know I should do it more and the mopping. I should do laundry more often too. I also need to clean the dog area probably every day but I don't - her bed gets full of hair quickly, I should wash it probably every week. But we are getting her a new bed today actually. And I'm bad at dusting. Actually I think I'm bad at anything that has to do with cleaning now that I think about it! But my house is pretty clean, I guess we clean as we go so we don't need that many big cleans. |
This is me exactly. I'm glad to know there is someone else out there like me! Most people would probably think yuck, but it doesn't really bother us. If the sheets were gross, I would wash them more. I don't really think it is a big deal if things aren't totally clean all the time!
