Top Reasons It's Good to STILL be Pregnant!

post #1 of 15
Thread Starter
OK- I need some reminders here that it's good to still be pregnant! We had a thread like this a while ago and I am looking for the support that we are actually lucky to still be pregnant! My top 5 reasons it's good to still be pregnant:

5) Although I get up every two hours to pee, I don't have diapers to change or a baby to nurse back to sleep.
4) Extra time to spend with my DD as an "only" child.
3) No sore perinium, lochia, or PPD.
2) Clean house, caught up laundry, everything is in order and looking great for the last few days/weeks in a while.
1) Chubby, well-cooked babies are SO cute!

yes, regardless of how anxious I am to get this baby out of me, I am incredibly grateful that my baby is full term and we are both happy and healthy. I treasure every last moment with my son and enjoy my families last days as a threesome. While we all look forward to becoming a foursome.

My #1 reason is that the longer they cook inside, the better their neurological development, and hence, the more likely they are to nurse well. My daughter was a week late and a champion nurser; I'm hoping for a slightly-late baby again this time.

I'm feeling blessed to have a full term baby, 'specially since I have a good friend who just had her twins delivered at 28wks and is struggling with all that entails.

But I also keep reminding myself that right now is the easiest this baby will ever be to care for

I'm excited to have time to get over this cold before I give birth and have to try to produce milk while really sick.:

I'm also glad to have time to just think about the logistics of taking care of a baby and a toddler, so I have some idea what I'm doing.

Also, my friend who had her babe at 37 weeks had a lot of early nursing issues because Sam was just so darn sleepy all the time she couldn't get him to suck long enough to build up her milk supply and gain weight. Less worries of that in a 40 week or later babe.

Thanks for this thread, I needed it!!

Top reasons I'm glad to still be pregnant:

1. It gives DH more time to get further along in our home renovation project, and thus have our house more in order for when the little one arrives;

2. I'm enjoying taking a walk every afternoon with DH, something that we weren't so diligent about before;

3. I don't really have to worry about what to wear each day (since I only have like 2 outfits that fit me!);

4. Every day I get something more done on my "to do" list (e.g., send out a few more shower thank you notes, write more in the baby journal, wash a new baby outfit, read more in The Baby Book, go through more parenting magazines, etc.);

5. I am cherishing this last bit of time of being a twosome with DH. :

Now that I've been to the chiropractor and feel so much better, I can participate in this thread! I was hurting so much last time we did it, I couldn't come up with much of anything!

1) My hands are still free to care for DD
2) I don't feel guilty about eating ice cream
3) I really enjoy this big secret between dh and I regarding her name. We've told NO ONE, so it'll be fun revealing it.

Great thread . . .

1. It is special to still feel my baby moving inside me and to be able to comfort her just by talking and rubbing my tummy.

2. I can wear lounge clothing all the time and no one dares say anything to me.

3. I can still do lots of good things to help her to continue to develop like walking every day and sleeping well. Of course when I'm breastfeeding, being healthy will still help her.

1. More time to actually take some pictures of me and my last giant preggo belly. Not that we've taken many.
2. New hot water heater is being installed today. Yay for lots of super-hot water for the birth!
3. My EDD baby was much easier than my 38-weeker. I really think she benefitted from cooking longer (well, and not having a 4 hour pushing stage!). I keep trying to think about that.
4. Birthday will be further from Christmas.
5. I will never have a baby move inside me again. Sniff sniff. I need to enjoy it.
6. Lots of practice contractions = easier delivery.
7. I can get the last of my last-minute projects done.
8. Not worrying about birth control.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post here, but you should be grateful that your nipples are unmolested I had no idea what a gift it really is

Anyway, hoping all of you get to hold your little ones close soon :

More reasons:

Baby is not crying yet, breaking your heart.
You don't have to share. I'm not big on sharing right away.
People still offer to help YOU and not just offer to hold the baby.
It is really easy to get the car loaded with only one child.....

1. I am happy Baby is getting as much time on the inside as possible.
2. I have three knitting projects to finish for Baby.
3. I still have to organize my closet and find a place to put all the baby things.
4. I am waiting for my mother and sister to arrive for the birth!

Even though this is so not the spirit of this thread, I actually think things will be a lot better when Baby gets here. I am so tired of being sick. After I had my DS, I felt WONDERFUL, with so much energy. Plus, I am so eager to hold, nurse and love my baby, it brings tears to my eyes. I want to hold my baby so much.

#1 reason it's good to still be pg is that we haven't decided on a girl's name and we haven't been able to come up with a single option for a boy's name!! At this rate the baby won't be named until s/he is 18!!!

2) still waiting on sis' to send my car seat and newborn clothes they have been storing
3) house is a wreck! gotta get the Xmas stuff out!
4) have to organize closet to make room for baby stuff
5) I am really wanting a Feb baby!
6) I really love my 9-10 lbers!
7) have not bought my PP herbal bath or peri bottle!

Yay for this thread!!

1) Get to spend more time alone with dd before baby gets here.

2) So thankful that baby has been able to cook this long...it really is a blessing.

3)I have gotten to spend a lot of time alone with dh too, which has been very nice, the most time we've spent alone in almost two years since dd was born.

4) Time to clean, and organize a little more.

5) I had time to finish my thank you notes from surprise work baby shower BEFORE the baby came...thank goodness.
